Topic: Random Milk Question Posted: 02 August 2008 at 7:52pm |
How much cows milk do you go thru from one grocery shop to the next?
This shop just gone, I got a 3 litre bottle and then on Tuesday I had to buy another 2 litres and then yesterday I brought another litre and that lasted a day!
We did the groceries last night and I got another 3 litre and it's going to be finished by Monday I reckon.
There are only 3 of us who drink it too...
We use it for Porridge, Coffee, Smoothies and Milo's... Occasionally in the weekends we have Pancakes and I'll do some baking.. it's getting ridiculous.. maybe I should start putting coke in my coffee, it's cheaper than milk!

We go through 5 litres in a normal week for 3 of us. When we do have milo we often go through a couple more. Cant tell you where it all goes though.... porridge, glass of milk with breakfast, the odd bit of cooking....??

Lasr week we went through at least 7 litres, but mainly cos I am having heartburn and finding a glass of cold milk is helping that. Yesterday I bought 2 x 3 litres and that will probably last till Wednesday (i hope)

There is only 2 people in my house, so we buy 1L of cow's milk a week for DH's coffee, plus 2L of goat's milk a week for me just for drinking (as I am allergic to cow's milk and byproducts). I also get 1L of soy milk a week for my cereal.

Yeah I know....
Jake is a milk monster and Charlotte is gettign that way as well. Sometimes J will drink more than 1l a day on his own. Plus we all have cereal and lets not forget daddies hangover on sundays which means we might drink milk all day sunday and monday too....
I hate it, I would be lucky to get through a litre a week on my own...

We used to buy a 2litre and sometimes we'd throw it out on expiry... that's why the amount we are going thru has taken me by surprise.

We gothrough about 8L a week. DD1 loves her milk and I drink a couple of glasses a day. We have porridge most mornings and do quite a bit of baking during the week (pikelets are a fave at least once a week) as well as milos, coffee for DH, smoothies etc.
I buy 3x 2L bottles at my weekly shop and always have to top up at least once during the week.

Wholey this is going to be a shocker then.
We have 4 people drinking milk in our house and at the groceries I buy 5 3L's blue for boys and DH and 2 3L's yellow for me.....21L's a week (and sometimes I have to buy and extra 2L from dairy to see us through ).
I think we should invest in our own dairy cow
