Is anyone else getting woken up in the middle of the night with leg cramps? I've been upping the banana quotient because that is supposed to work, but any other ideas?
Thanks.

I found tonic water works for me, because my cramps are caused by a lack of quinine (which is found in salt). I also snack on pretzels and those crackers that have chunks of rock salt on them.

I believe water in general is supposed to help because cramps can be a result of dehydration.

so far I've been lucky enough to avoid them though.

Ohhh I had my first one in bed this morning in my calf muscle! My god it hurt!!!! Managed to grab my foot and pull it up but it took a while to go away and was still achy for hours afterwards!!! I'm turning a blind eye to it though and pretending (and hoping) that it was a one off!!!

wow - Paws and KH25 - you have exactly the same due date - I had to look twice.
I've heard that salt can help - might be a good excuse to hit the pretzels or popcorn tonight!
Thanks

If salt helps then I shouldn't get any seeing as I ate a whole bag of the ActII popcorn at the weekend in one sitting

here's something new, i had an absolutely wicked one over the weekend that started friday arvo, woke me throughout the night and was worse sat morning. i tried pointing toes up, massage, panadol, heat, bananas and tonic water. nothing touched the pain so i text my midwife for other ideas. she told me it could be lack of magnesium sulphate, so off to the pharmacy we went. i haven't had another cramp yet and just take the tablets every couple of days or so. i'd never heard of that as a cause before.

Bananas, crackers (plain or salted), lots of fluid, stretching before bed, and if one hits, keep your toes pointed up towards your nose ! As opposed to stretching them downwards towards the floor, which seems to make it worse for most women.

I have been on Magnesium since I found out I was pregnant as I got a few leg cramps in bed the last time. I went to the Herbalist lady and that is what she said to take.

This time the only cramp I get is in two of my toes!
