I understand that all babies grow at different speeds but how many newborn nappies did people buy or need? and at approx what age did they go into the next size?

OK let me have a go at answering ...

We bought a couple of those big Huggies Newborn boxes. We also got a few treasures packets. We got them all before she was born while they were on special (and we used discount coupons).

The hospital supplies nappies while you are there and we got "given" a whole heap when we left (probably another jumbo box load).

These lasted probably 2-3 months.

She went up to infant at about 3.5 months .. she is now in walker size (at 6 months).

So in other words .. they neeed loads and loads!

(Oh and we use mcns during the day - so a box lasts us aaaaages now)

Hi Stacey

It can really depend on the size of your baby at birth though. Oliver was 4.030kgs at birth and we were only able to use newborn nappies until he was about 2 months old. I actually still have some left, that I have put aside for the next baby (some time in the far far future! ). We too now use MCN's so only use maybe one disposable a day - usually at night. All up we probably used 2 jumbo size boxes of huggies.

Hope this helps.

Amanda

I agree with Mandz, it definitely depends on the size of your baby, Gabs was 3.02kg so she was in newborn naps for about 3 months I think and now is still in the next size up. I think I bought about 7-8 packs to begin with, but its not hard to get your DH or a friend to pick some up for you if you are running low. Try different brands too, some fit better than others. I tend to use Pams disposables now and Gabs only uses 4-5 a day now and they are cheap and don't leak with her.

What are MCN's?

I got 1 box of newborns - they've done for 2 1/2 weeks. I've just got 2 big boxes of infants. Daniel was 9lb 4 though (4210gm), so is ready to upsaize as the infant ones are 4kg up. I use Huggies and love them - we tried treasures once and they were a bad fit for his skinny legs.

Thomas was 4.065kg at birth, so we werent in newborn size for long. I think it was for only 4 weeks! Then we moved onto infant size which are starting to get too small for him now! LOL!

...or if you have a 9lb 6oz'er (4.3...kg? i think)like mine they dont fit them at all I had brought a whole box and a few packets and they were very small. She would be leaking through them all the time and were a mission to keep on. Some how we amange to use them all up though.
I tihnk having a few packets are good idea but probably not best to over do the smallest size.

For my most recent boy he was 9lb 4 born with damn skinny legs and he was in the newborn size nappies for months (about 3 I think). I that time I went throught 1 jumbo box of Huggies (108 nappies) 8 bags of 30's and 6 bags of giggles (24's).

He is now nearly 18 months and has 1 sposie at night and is in the Toddler size.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Jake went through heaps of newborns I think.

Taine didn't fit them - they were way too big and leaked. he was just under 7lb.

get three or four packs, and then just buy supermarket vouchers.   Sometimes the nappy SIZE is okay, but the brand doesn't suit.

i.e. we loved treasures for Jake, but they were crap for Taine. we prefered the Baby factory brand for him,

Lucas has always had thunder thighs, right from birth. He was 9lbs and stayed in the Huggies Newborn naps for about 2 months tops (gosh they are ridiculously small in comparison to Treasures, when I first opened a box whilst preggy I thought they looked like doll nappies haha)

Now at nearly 17 months he's going into Junior size.

Becks I can't believe Joshy is still in Toddlers Lucas' clothes end up soaked if I put him in anything smaller than Walkers (and toddlers don't fit his big butt the poor lil guy inherited from his mummy )

We just bought 1 jumbo Huggies box to see how it went. my lil girl was a 9lb 2oz so the 1 box was a good guess, half way through they started leaking so we only used the during the day and Infant at night.
My boy 9lb 10oz was only in them for 2 weeks so i had to give heaps away as i went a bit overboard, trying to be organized. He pretty much skipped infant too. you should have seen his thighs
We are going with MCN soon so hopefully all the guessing about sizes stops!
