Hey Ladies, I was just wondering... I got some canestin yesterday from the chemist to treat thrush and they came in a tablet form that you insert into the vagina. Said not to use applicator on info sheet. I have read the instructions and they did say insert it up there and not to be taken orally. Never heard of tablet form be4. Have you??? |

Ummmm, just a word of warning, check you can take it while pregnant. When I was 2 days from being due and not sure if we were I had thrush as well, so toddled off to the doctor. She said that I should use the creams, and a minimum of the 3 day dosage as it is weaker, and to not (ehm mmm) insert it as far. Hmmm perhaps TMI!

i think the tablets are called pessaries(sp?) i have used them once before, on perscription from doctor. just make sure, when you insert it, only put it in until you feel al little resistance against it. and remember to wear a panty liner or pad for a day or so after cos it all comes out as it breaks down!

   eeeeuuuuuwwwww yuck.
YOu should be fine then. I went to the pharmacy just to pick some up, as I normally would and they wouldn't give it to me, much to my frustration until I saw my doctor. So $55 later I was armed with 5 boxes of the stuff hehehe.

I was under the impression pessaries were the sort of tablets / medication you put up your bum?

Do you mean suppositries(sp?) When I was in my last 5wks of pregnancy my midwife made me insert evening primrose capsules up my fufu before I went to bed at night. She never told me to wear a panty liner or pad, so I learnt the hard way that it does pay to whenever you insert anything up there.

I did the evening primrose oil thing... Not exactly sure why? But I had no tearing so always wonder if it helped?

i was told that evening primrose oil inserted into your vagina supposedly helps to ripen the cervix. they say only to do it in the last few weeks of pregnancy though.

Yap used it while pregnant. I was told however to put the tablet (presseries ??)...half way up and not all the way. I use to get thrush quite often while pregnant.

I would be really interested to know exactly what EPO was used for up the other end.
After all my hassles last time with "that end" I am thinking it sounds like a good idea.

I think the suppositories conversation and the epo conversation are two separate ones... I have never heard of anyone putting epo up the 'other end'? Correct me if I am wrong...?

Yeah sorry, in my family fufu is used to describe a vagina. My cousin started it when he was still in primary school and came home saying girls have fufus and boys have dudus.

Although, would massaging the perineum be good for the 'other end'? Maybe worth a try?
