I had had a horrible week - on Monday morning at work I went to the loo and discovered I was bleeding. It wasnt bucket laods but it was enough to totally freak me out. I panicked and rushed out and called my midwife who sent me to the emergency dept at the hospital - the bleeding stopped and they found a heartbeat so that was good. That afternoon I had a scan and they said as far as they could tell the baby was fine and teh placenta had not pulled away or anything. So they couldnt tell me what had happened and why - all they said was to get some rest and take it easy. A friend of mine said it was probably just old lining coming away but it was definatley fresh blood which is teh part that scared me the most!!! I spent the past 3 days resting at home and only came back to work today, it hasnt happened since but I am living in fear of going to the toilet now...I have tried to read a bit about it but still have no idea why it happened or if it will happen again and it scares me. If it happens again I will be refered to a specialist but until then I cant really do much...I was just woondering if anyone else had had a similar experience - I am tryin not to obsess over this but it's hard not to think about it...

i just wish i could get this fear out of my head

Oh babes, that does sound really scary but it is really promising that the heart beat and everything looks good. Take it easy, put your feet up and try and relax, I am sure everything will be ok!

huge s for you frantic! it must be so hard not to worry about it. it is quite common, i know two people who've had it and gone on to deliver healthy wee bubbas and i'm sure it will be the same for you hun. keep reminding yourself of the strong little heartbeat, and rest up as much as possible.
thinking of you!

I finished bleeding about as far through as you are, with both Kiya and Josiah.
With Kiya, I describe it as "menstrating" as I got what was just like my period, right when it was due, and same sort of blood flow.
With Josiah, I bled red for three weeks straight right after I found out I was pregnant, then on and off (every third day or so) until around 22ish weeks. In my case, it seems to have been caused by a hormone imbalance.

This is actually my first pregnancy when I have not bled at all! It's been really nice to have no period.

Hi Mrsfranctic! you poor girl!

Before I knew I was pregnant, I had a huge bleed....soaked through onto a chair and kinda rushed out. I assumed it was my period as I was waiting for one after the birth of Baby one. Looking back, I was about 4 months pregnant then. And Taine is currently a very healthy bubba in his cot right now. So while bleeding is scarey, it doesn't necessarily mean bad stuff. Hope this makes you feel a bit better.

Hi Mrs Frantic, I had a major bleeding at 18 weeks and went to the hospital as well. I was a total wreck and honestly thought that I was loosing my baby....(after a long wait) the docs found my bubs heartbeat. Even to this day they cant tell me what happened and why?

I can assure you that if they have a heart beat and bub looks fine in scan, then you will be fine (and the bub).

After all that....I am a mum to my beautiful baby girl!

Hiya, I had similar bleeding with pregnancy #1 that resulted in a healthy creature named Sean (I use the term creature as he is rapidly spiralling into teen-dom and has become disagreeable and smelly). I don't think the bleeding had anything to do with the 'teen-dom' condition, but you can let me know in 10 years or so if you experience the similar phenomenon.
Take care of yourself - your midwife sounds onto it and she'll keep a close eye on you.
Big hugs and warm thoughts!!

i'm so glad everything is ok with bubs. it was good that your midwife sent you straight in for a check up. take care sweets, as hard as it is, try not to worry, bubs is growing well and unfortunately, as some of the ladies have said, bleeding occurs for some without reason

Dont Panic!!! I had a huge bleed which flooded my work chair and then when I got home all across our carpet and I bled non stop for 3 weeks...from 13 weeks to 16 weeks. Was not nice and very scary!!!All is okay now and baby kicks kicks and kicks!!! It was due to a piece of the Placenta pulling Away.

With my first pregnancy I had bleeds the whole way through...I had around 6 scans all up! There was never a reason for it and I have a healthy happy strong little six and a hlaf year old now!!!

It will go away and you will be honky dory!!

BIG HUGS

You poor thing Frantic. That must have been so scary. Really encouraging though to read so many other people's responses on here who have had similar things and then had healthy babies.
Take good care and take it easy.
Thinking of you and sending big hug.
