Hey ladies,

Im just a bit concerned. I am almost 25 weeks pregnant and have put on 22 kilos or more so far. Im not eating that bad, walking two times  a week and get tight legs and feet when I have a shower. I feel great mentally, and blood pressure and everything is fine. Im finding it hard already to get up out of seat, etc. What will I be like in another 3 months, argh!!!!

Rang my midwife this morning and she said if im eating ok etc then its normal and obviously I am meant to be putting on this much weight and up to 10 kilos can be fluid. She said they dont worry about edema (fluid and swelling) now so its all normal.

She also said I was a big girl anyway ( I never used to be), lol. anyway thats what she said and that baby is going to be big cos bigger girls have bigger babies. I didnt think our size decided the size of bubs. I have heard of big woman having little babies. Maybe she means bigger build. She did say small asian ladies would have 5 pounders. She also added she thought I was looking beautiful

Mum wants me to go to a doctor still, so i dont know what to do. Im going to eat healthy and cut out some bad things, no dieting (big no no) keep up my walking. Midwife says I am going to put on lots more weight yet even if I do eat healthy, yikes.

ohhh poor you. Im big. and if its any help my babies wernt too big. First 8lb6 and second 9lb. I found the best thing for me to do while preggers was just to avoid being weighed. If i felt good and my bp was good then who gives a toss. Of course now im paying for it 2 babies later and im about 25kgs heavier then when i started.

My midwife told me that its sugar that makes big babies so maybe just limit the amount of sugar intake.

Take care

I gained a woping 20+ kg when pregnant and Zaara was only 3.425kg.....and I went back to my weight straight after so I think most of it was water + other bits. Dont worry.

i wouldn't worry too much kellie. i am a biggish girl, only 5'5/5'6 and 76kg (sz16) when i got pregnant with jack and he was only 5pd 12oz at birth. i was left with an extra 6kgs after he was born.
i had a wee looksie at your webpage thingee (sorry being nosie) and you don't look like a big girl at all!
i think you will find it's all baby and fluids etc and like roksana, you'll go back to your start weight (or close to) not long after jaxon is born. well, that's my humble opinion anyway
keep up your walking and healthy eating, your doing well!!
as long as you feel ok within yourself and bubs is growing well, that's all that matters

Well I dunno much cos I am a first timer at this, and so far I have gained I think about 9 kilos, but my midwife did tell me that every person is different and the main thing to think about is that your baby is getting enough nutrition. I was also concerned abotu wieght gain and she said to me that just because you gain a lot doesnt mean that it will be difficult to lose - she said some people gain very little and find it very hard to lose, and some people gain heaps and it just falls off them after the birth, so you never know how it will go. Your baby sounds healthy and I am sure you're doign a great job so dont worry, I know it's hard having s changing body but I am sure you will be fine!

After reading Jacks Mum's post I too had a wee looksie at your webpage (hope you don't mind)... Just looked at your pics and I've gotta say - I'd never call you a big girl!!! Maybe she meant tall? or just carrying big? (dunno if you are tall, but I'm wondering how someone with your lovely figure ever got classified as 'big'). Ok, so that's a big bump, but in a GOOD, healthy way (if your midwife isn't worried, sounds good).
I think you look fantastic, and that bump looks like one to be really proud of.

About the webpage... I'm going to ask people what the etiquette is for that on another thread - I'd love to know what people with webpage links here think.

Kelly I just had a sneaky peek at your webpage too (hope you don't mind ) I think you look great and certainly NOT "a big girl".
I wasn't exactly Slimmer of the year before I got pregnant (77kg 5ft 5") and I didn't put on anything for months - now all of a sudden I've put on 5kg and I still have two months to go.
My midwife has never weighed me, she said that it means nothing as long as bubs is growing as it should be and your BP is ok.
Try not to stress about it - you look great!

Ok I just had a look at your web page (hope you dont mind) and honestly you are sooo not fat??? You dont even look like 100KG...ARE YOU SURE??

Ok so for 24 weeks you look big but I think that is because you are tiny to start with. Please dont pay attention to all that. All this means is that your bub is happy and healthy.

I gained heaps with Kobe and my midwife said I was fine and also said I was a bigger lady before hand so didnt weigh me or anything. If you are really concerned though do get it looked at or have you had your diabetes test? I didnt have it done first time round because there were no indications I would get it but I did have it and Kobe was 6 weeks early and weighed 7lb 2oz. I knew i was big and felt to heavy but my m/w kept saying i was fine and my fundal measurements were as they should be. I would have gained about 25kgs all up with Kobe and only got to 34 weeks so hate to think how big both he and I could have got to. Trust your instict (oh and you certianly dont look big ot me)
