Topic: 3D Scana Posted: 23 May 2006 at 9:19pm |
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has had a 3d scan and where abouts did you go for it? How much did you pay?
We don't have the service offered here in Taranaki (or at least I haven't heard they do) and since this is my last baby (the third) I thought it would be a pretty cool thing to do.
Mum to:
Josh - almost 13years
Brooke - 8 years
and baby on the way :-)

Hi AnnC,
I had mine done at Auckland xray services. It was free b/c i had a referral from my midwife and it was anatomy scan. But otherwisw i think it's around $75 to get on done without a referral.

I was the same as nu_mummy, went to the same place for mine, and they quoted me $80 without a referral, although it was free when I went at 20 weeks for the anatomy scan. I think Ascot Radiology (Greenlane, Auckland) do 3D ones as well.

18 WEEK SCAN & 4D for $30
If you are an eligible NZ resident, and you have not had your 18 week scan, we offer you the 18 week scan and a 4D scan for $30.
A DVD will cost $10 extra.
To get a $30 scan you must have a referral from your registered midwife.
Your 4D scan will cost $110 if:
- you have already had your 18 week scan
- you are not a NZ resident
- you wish to have a scan without a referral from your midwife.
A DVD will cost $10 extra.
Bookings are essential. Your promptness is appreciated as lateness will reduce your 4D examination time.
Phone us between 8:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday to make your appointment.

Gosh my scans are expensive then! I have had my scans each charged at $95 at 12 weeks and 20 weeks (and thats WITH a referral) and if I wanted 3d on top of that it would have been another $95, so $180 all up!

wow in chch we pay $40 a scan with a referal but cant get anything fancy, just plan old 2D scan and some pictures put on a cd but no dvd or anything which sucks. Oh but if you are going through the hospital like I am for GD then it doesnt cost anything.

Um I dont know why that is - thats just their prices. I have been going to Insight Radiology in Auckland, I went there cos my midwife recommended them and I didnt know any better I guess - they seem to be pretty good but the prices really do seem incredible compared to others here...
I have been thinking about gettign the 4D scan at my next one which is next week (24 week scan that is being done for a study I am taking part in) but I am a bit scared to cos I have seen some pretty freaky pictures and I dont want to see a scarey alien looking pic of my baby ! WHat do you guys think?

hey Carmel fancy seeing you (or Piper the darling) on here.
Don't think my midwife will refer me so guess have to do it alone. Think it will be pretty cool though.

Hey Jezsika, if you do find out let me know. I have been going to Pacific Radiology but if they do have better machines at the hospital I may try and go there.

They don't have 3d scans in taranaki either, so we are planning to go to Auckland for it (even if we have to pay full price)
Good excuse to go shopping too while up there...

That's a great idea. I may do the same at some stage cause we have friends in Auckland that we may go up and visit in the next couple of months. And like you say good excuse for going shopping!

chch hospital is the same, they ahve the technology but not the knowledge how. I went for a scan the other day and they wanted to use it but didnt know how and a friend went this week and they tried it but she said ti was more like they were playing around and practising not really knowing how it worked
