Is it normal to get faint spells at this stage in pregnancy? (23 weeks).

I had a couple yesterday when rushing around to sort out dinner for Spencer and didn't think much of it but then had one when sat at the computer later last night. Didn't do anything at all it just happened and was accompanied by going hot and feeling a bit nauseous. I tried to stick my head between my legs and quickly realised that doesn't happen when a bump is in the way...doh...so I went and sat in the bathroom for a bit (its always about -10 in there) and that helped it ease off enough for me to get ready for bed and go and lay down properly, but I carried on feeling a bit weird for about half an hour once in bed.

I'm pretty sure it's normal. I'm sure I read somewhere that your blood pressure can drop a bit in the 2nd trimester and that can cause faintness. I have a friend who is 24 weeks and she's felt lightheaded if she gets up quickly for the past few weeks, and another friend who is 32 weeks who has had the same thing and actually fainted several times throughout her pregnancy.
I've only had one occasion - was standing up too long in a shop and came over faint and some lovely salesman ran to get me a chair and a glass of water

i had these spells occasionally throughout last time and they have been happening again this time occasionally. I craved sugar- when i had them last time so thought maybe i was a prime candidate for gest diabetes but the test came back clear so obviously not. and mine dont seem to relate to my blood pressure either cos i get that checked regularly and its always fine, (except the day i went into labour it rose abit but thats normal)

With Bella, I had these spells almost right through to the end . I had to leave work early as my work involves standing all day and I just used to hit the decks all the time!

I think you can only try and avoid them by avoiding getting too hot, too low a blood sugar, or standing too long. But sometimes your blood pressure will just drop for no apparent reason....

Drink loads of water too to try and keep your blood pressure up.

BTW, I get these again, and just have to sit at work - its either that or they have to scrape me off the floor!

I am getting faint spells quite a bit now, which is basically caused by my super low blood pressure.

Yeah I do have low blood pressure so have to be careful when standing up etc, which was why I didn't worry about the ones that happened when rushing around, was just odd that one happened whilst I was sat down. Still have been all good today, if I get another like that i will ring midwife just to be sure all is ok.

When I was at work pregnant with Spencer I often had to leave the workshop and go and sit in front of the AC in the office Luckily the bosses found it funny.

I've been getting them since 18weeks mostly when I'm standing but also if I'm lying on my back for too long. My blood pressure is normal and my iron is ok so I guess it's just normal.

I had it the whole way through really bad. Where ver whenever it didnt matter what I was doing. It was mainly caused by extreemly low blood pressure but also I think low iron may have contibited to feeling faint aswell.
I had to make sure I was always drinking (especially because it was summer) and snacked all the time too. And rested when ever i could.

I used to get them when my blood sugar was too low. I carried around a box of barley sugars and would suck on one of them and it always made me feel better. So maybe try eating something sweet next time and see if it helps?

Yeah its happened again tonight but not so bad, was on the couch watching sensing murder this time. Was also accompanied by what I think was a BH but it lasted for ages as was pretty painful. It might have been bubs in a funny position or something but think I will ring midwife tomorrow as i'm not due to see her for a couple of weeks.

Tried eating something sweet in case it was blood sugar, any excuse to be a pig really. I made a yummy banana split

Yeah I had that a few times as well Marissa, I would feel really faint and dizzy, so i would go and lie down and then id feel very werid and sick for a while afterwards.
It was seemed to be worse when it was really hot, it was middle of summer when i was 23 weeks preggers

ETA- I got them for a few weeks after my c sections aswell, probably due to my low iron levels from my blood loss.

Spoke to my m/w and she looked up my blood pressure from the last visit and said it is very low and that at this stage of pregnancy it does tend to take another dip so that is more than likely the cause. She asked a few questions about did I have this pain or that pain which I don't and said to ring again if it gets worse or if my vision goes funny in any sort of way.
She recommend increasing my fluid intake as well, so will try to do that.
My iron levels were really good when last tested, but I have the bloods and glucose test thingy on monday so that will get checked again then.
