Topic: Baby baths. Posted: 26 May 2006 at 6:43pm |
I have noticed a lot of people buying baby baths and those change tables with them on. They look great! Very flash!!
I never had a baby bath with Paige. Right from the word go she was in the shower with Dad or Mum. It was Dad at night after work or in the morning with Me later as she got older. It was SO EASY and convenient. She loved it and we both loved it. And also it was awesome bonding time.
Paige has never had issues with water in her face or going under the water and a friend of mine who has 6 kids said its probably because of the showers right from the word go!I now have a little FISH for a daughter. Cant keep her out!
I am going to do the same with this baby too.
We are lucky to have a Spa Bath in this house down here so the whole four of us can jump in!!!
I hope you all think of showers too as they are really soothing to babies.

I have thought about showering, but just wasn't sure how bub would handle it, what about taking care of yourself first, or did you hop in the shower with bubs *just* for that purpose? More detail please!

we used to give Kobe a shower in the morning but at night we used a baby bath cos it was easier with just one person (hubby works nights) we have to shower him now because we dont have a bath and he is starting to like them again problem is he wont go in unless one of us is with him and with my fat tummy there isnt much room to move. I loved showering with him when he was ababy and will do with Addison. We would put baby in with us straight away and then the other one would get baby dressed while we finish cleaning ourselves if that makes sense.

Well when Ex hubby was home...He would jump in...I would pass her in and they would do their little thing...Give her a quick wash and then just let the water go on her back (chilled her out big time).I woudl get her out he would wash....
Then when I had one in the morning ..I would get in with her ..give her a scrub and cuddle and sing songs yadda yadda...then have her mat ready out on the floor with a big fluffy towel...wrap her up ...and she would just lie there watcning while I had a quick scrub down....
It was great when she was older too as I could always get ready instead of waiting for someone to come over and throwing her at them while I jumped through the shower!!
I just quite liked it that way!

It's better as they get older, Arna has always had bathtime with Dad (their time together) and now she gets in and plays while David has a wash and she plays with the foam bubbles then he washes her, good cause she gets a play and a clean and enjoys her showers. At the beginning she had baths with Dad and now either has a bath or shower...

we have some really cool foam animals that go on the shower walls so Kobe plays with the farm while getting washed.

We have those animals too, you should try sticking them to the shower curtain too (if you have one)
We gave Ella a shower at about 6 months I think, I remember I used to take her in with me before she could sit up, so I would hold her the whole time and somehow manage to wash both of us. Since then she has had a shower with one of us every day, she loves it and she sits on the shower mat and plays.
We had a baby bath before that..not a fancy one though, it was from Briscoes for $4!!!

Jake used to love our shower in Japan. They have bathrooms that are like huge showeres. the shower head is detachable which wwas great for a wee bubba. Now Jake has a bath, and practises his swimming techniques....and Mum's stupid bathroom has CARPET in it! Taine loves the bath, but may introduce him to the shower later. We have one of those detachable shower heads for the bath I'm going to try.

Hannah used to shower with me but now I'm back to the bath. I don't think she'd have a problem with either... well... hopefully.

Joey has a bath every night but if I can't be bothered waiting for him to sleep in the mornings he comes in to the shower with me. We have a shower over the bath in our new house and he just sits playing while I wash myself. He loooves water

I've always done both with Alex.
He has a shower with his Dad in the evenings, Spencer would jump in the shower, do his thing & then I would pass Alex in to him. ANd in the mornings I would give him a bath.
I think I only used the baby bath for about 4 weeks then Alex outgrew it so I took him in the big bath with me. I still do although I find it hard getting in & out with being so big & preggy.

I only used a baby bath with Kiya for a couple of days - like a couple of other things, it was to show my Mum I'd given it a try! Then I bathed her in the big bath, and once she was a bit bigger she would come in the shower with me. Josiah, we've bathed in the big bath from the start, or he has a shower with one of us. They both love water and are happy either way as long as they are wet!

Andrew loves the shower - he hops in with Dad after he has done his own clean and polishing and loves chasing the water coming out of the shower nozzle. It was great for the few hot days during summer too - instant cool down.
