Does anyone have one of these?
Are they as good as their website makes out?
Do you think they would be suitable for use when co-sleeping?
And also all their pics show babies just in nappies, what are they like when they have clothing on? i.e can it affect the operation cos of the clothes displacing the monitor, do they look funny when dressed etc.

Oh and did you rent or buy?

Yes, yes and yes lol!

I had them for the gremlins and Chiara also has one. It was the Respisense that alerted us to Mercedes second apnoea at 5 weeks. The paeds at the hospital were very impressed with it, they hadn't seen them before.

They would be perfect for co-sleeping as they only monitor babies movements, unlike an Angelcare etc. which would pick up yours as well. In fact, they were originally designed by a father of triplets who wanted to sleep his babies in the same bassinette but wanted to be able to monitor their breathing individually.

I've found it even more useful with Chiara as she sleeps in a hammock and I can't use our TT movement monitor in the hammock.

The only down sides are that it can't go over front snapping cloth nappies coz the gap is not big enough to fit over the snaps. I tuck it down the front of my front snapping nappies but occasionally it comes loose and goes off coz it loses contact with her tummy.

Also if bubs is in another room sleeping you also need a sound monitor as I find with the doors closed I wouldn't neccessarily hear it going off, and at night it wouldn't be loud enough to wake me without the sound monitor. I just use the sound monitor off the TT one I have.

You can't even tell they're wearing them under clothes, and it hasn't seemed to bother any of my girls during tummy time either. I didn't use it till the cord stump had fallen off and dried up tho coz it sits right over the belly button.

Oh and I bought ours, I used them on the gremlins for 12 mths for night sleeps and about 8 mths for day sleeps (they started taking them off during the day when I stopped swaddling them) which worked out cheaper than renting. You might get a second hand one on TM tho.

Oh and if the clothes knock the monitor off it's usually not a problem, as long as it can still pick up the movement it's fine. The worst that can happen is that it will lose contact with baby's movements and alarm and you'll have to put it back on again. I just kind of figure I'd rather go in and fix ten false alarms than not use it and have something awful happen.

I like that they can wear them when not in the cot too as lil miss spends a lot of time in her capsule.

That's great cheers. I ended up co-sleeping with Spencer but never had anything like that to use and never slept properly cos I was always scared I would roll on him or smoother in some way (although DH reasurred me we are programmed not to do that), will probably co sleep this time as well just cos they sleep so much better than way when they are newbies and I like my sleep. Would be good to use when in the front pack as well cos Spencer would fall asleep in there and I was constantly checking to see if he was still alive, makes things very stressful.
Think I might just buy one, have looked on trademe but there aren't any used ones listed at the moment and I can probably on sell it and get some of my money back later on.

That's what I did, I got $100 back for mine I think so not too bad.

Just a note with the front pack tho, if you are walking around it might misinterpret your movements as baby's movements. It says that about carseats, buggies etc. in the instructions, that if the car/buggy is moving it could misinterpret that movement as baby's movements. I've never had a problem with that tho.
