about the state of Laurens skin.

Her eczema is out of control as far as I am concerned. The only place she doesn't have it is on her face thankfully.

The worst parts are her whole back, forearms and thighs. She cannot wear t-shirts or shorts as her skin looks hideous. I dress her in 100% cotton all the time, use 1% hydrocortizone on the bad patches and also use Lemnis Fatty Cream for moisturising and Aqueous Cream for bathing.

I religiously apply the creams, like up to 3 times a day when its looking really bad. Thankfully she doesn't scratch it, so it must not be itchy. I have sent a sample of her hair away yesterday to a Natropath to test for allegies as I do not know what else to do and it just seems to be getting worse.

My doc assured me yesterday that I am keeping it under control and he is 100% certain she will grow out of it, but I feel like such a bad mother every time I undress my baby and see the state of her skin

What else can I do??

Thanks for listening to my novel

What about that stuff that goes in the bath that turns the water yellow??? I am having a mind blank and can't remember the name of the stuff (and I know someone on here will know the name). My sister has really bad eczema and she bathes in that.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Pine tarsol, or for something less smelly then keri oil.

I would definitely pursue the allergie route but think you would be better getting your gp to send her for a skin prick test rather than the hair strand.

Good luck

Thanks for your replies.

I have thought about Pinetarsol, but it stinks lol!! I have used Alpha Keri Oil and that was quite good, maybe I should try that again.

cuppatea, I am trying the hair strand test route first and will try to eliminate the things they say she is allergic/intolerant to.

I still wonder whether its the formula she is on. She is on Heinz Nurture and they changed the processing of it a few weeks back and maybe this has triggered her skin to flare up. Its only been this bad for maybe 6 weeks, prior to that she barely had any eczema. This is the only thing in her diet that is different really.

Its a bit of a guessing game, but I am prepared to try anything!

Busymum, its red and scaly, not raw at all. She very rarely scratches it so it doesn't get raw like I know it could do.

SimoneF I am just thinking of what has changed with her diet and that is the ony thing! Damn them for changing if that is what has caused it to be so inflammed.

Caitlyn had very bad excema, i bathed her in Pinetarsol (call me a freak but i like the smell !) and applied aqeous cream i got her allergies tested , (dust mites and tomatos) and just eliminated those as much as i was able .
Now shes six and her skin is clear as anything , keep doing what your doing , sounds like your doing everything you possibly can

Aw that stinks about the formula, I would definitely try a different one and see if it helps things improve. You could perhaps try the HA one and see if that helps. (I think it is HA or might be AR, its a hypo allergenic one).
Hope it clears up soon.

Grrr that really does suck if it is the formula.

I'm finding Xma-ease reduces the amount of hydrocortisone we have to use and has cleared up A's arms so they are nice and soft.

Someone on here also recommended sulphur soap - you can get it from a health shop and it is cheap. I haven't tried it yet, but thought I would get some.

A still has excema on her head, ankle, behind her knees, kneck and sometimes forehead and she is bf, gluten free and has only had a small amount of dairy a couple of times... sigh. I don't know what else to fo either.

Have you tried licorice cream or coloidal (sp) silver cream? One of the ladies in my coffee group has a girl the same age as Oli / Lauren who has had really bad allergy based excema, which she cleared up using these creams. Could be worth a try?

Rowan's eczema is nowhere near as bad but we use alpha keri oil in the bath and get pretty good results.

You could try a homeopath, they are great. I know a couple of ladies whose children suffered from bad eczema and they have had awesome results from homeopath, it has all cleared up.

You know what, Charlotte is on this too (she has constipation probs so we were advised to leave her on it), and I also noticed that they changed it recently. Since then, her skin is kind of bumpy almost as tho she has the same problem and she is itching it! I never thought about it till just now.....

Wow really? caden has been on it since 1 month old, but so far hasnt had any probs with the new stuff, but I was quite peeved off they changed it, I just dont think they should mess round with formula as it can effect the babies health.
ive been thinking about changing cadens formula.....

aww peachy im so sorry about laurens skin, I dont have any advice as I havent had to deal with this before, I gues sits good that its not itchy so she isnt making it worse by itching...I think you are doing well with it so dont feel bad **hugs**
