I am having absolutely no luck finding a decent set of large wooden blocks for Alex.

Any ideas on where to look?

Toy world have them. They have mesh type bags full of all different shapes and sizes. I just wanted plain square blocks for Ashleigh so got a set of about 50 which have numbers and letters on them. They were about $30 from memory (Xmas last year)

Nature Baby have some as well, possibly the same ones.

Don't know where you are but the best (and cheapest) ones I've seen were made by a guy who goes to a bunch of the markets in Auckland and further north, we saw him in Paihia but he apparently goes to the Titirangi and Coatesville markets as well (plus some others which I forget, sorry), I'm planning to make a special trip to one of those markets just to get a set (we didn't have any cash when we stumbled across him ).

This place does a bag of wooden blocks for $20. A friend has them and thinks they are great. She also has the trolley with blocks in it ($80) - that is really well made and pretty awesome value for money.
