Where on EARTH do I find one of these that doesn't cost an arm and a leg !? One website I looked at was charging $110 for theirs !!

Trade Me doesn't have any at the moment, and I REALLY want one.

Help ??

Nope, not a vaporiser love The difference is that a vaporiser uses steamto help disperse the smell, whereas an oil burner is usually powered by a candle and oil well... just evaporates ! (Which is how the smell gets into the air.) Although you've just reminded me I want a vaporiser for once bubs is here though, they are brilliant.

The things I'm talking about are as above, you usually light a little candle in the bottom part, then there's a wee dish up top that you put a little water in plus a few drops of essential oil (if it's the 100% pure stuff), and yeah, it makes your room smell nice or wherever.

The catch of course, and the reason I'm looking for an electric one (that you plug in to get the heat instead of a candle), is coz you can't light stuff with a naked flame in a hospital :P

you may find that things like this will go on sale after mothers day. Also have you checked if the hosipital has anything you might be able to use?

Embarassingly enough, no I haven't. I have a feeling they might not, but that's just at North Shore - which is 'Plan B' - I should give Birthcare a call and see if they do. I might check out Briscoes, as I know that quite some time back they had little scent dispersing fan type things that were made by Breville - you put the essential oil onto a sponge, and popped it into a tray in the bottom of the body of the fan.

Jax, you just put wipe a bit of the oil on the light bulb in the room. And you get the yummy scent.

You can definitely get them, they just aren't very common, and as I mentioned before all the ones I have seen so far are way too expensive.

I will consider one of those lightbulb rings, but will have to find a lamp to put it on and bring that with me as well - I don't want to rely on Birthcare having / not having them, you know?

I guess I'm just so keen on it as lavender has been REALLY useful for me lately, and want to use as many natural 'tools' during labour and birth as possible... which reminds me I have to do some research on any registered homeopaths in my neighborhood

Hmmm... my computer or the server or something is having trouble connecting to trademe, bugger it !

To top it all off today I went to buy some test pots of paint so I could start doing the last touches in the nursery next weekend, and the Resene shop was shut !

Sh*t, feck, bugger and damn !

*ahem*

Sorry ladies... my little "explosion" there was because I could finally get on to Trade Me, and that first auction looked perfect - but it shut just after 2pm and someone else won !!

The second link looks OK but won't jump at it just in case... mind you, now that I've said that either someone else will snap it up or I'll forget entirely !

Hrmmm.. this isn't the most attractive diffuser in the world (my opinion only) but it might do the job!
