Topic: hes quiet now Posted: 29 May 2006 at 10:53am |
Hey everyone,
Just wondering if its normal for baby to have a long period of quiet times. its been three days now that I have only got the odd kick here and there. Usually I can touch my tummy and hell kick me but not much at moment. Hubby can hear the heartbeat now if he gets the right spot. He says its definately babies heartbeat cos it sounds like it does with stephoscope. He can hear it still so bubs must be ok just being oddly quiet. What do you think??

yeah thats normal, once you get to around 26-28 weeks you should start feeling at least 10 movements in 12 hours but until then they dont worry about it.

yep, that's pretty normal. You can sometimes wake baby up by having a cold drink of OJ. I usually can't feel anything for most of the day when I am busy, but as soon as I lie down, he wakes up.

im just on 28 weeks, and for the last few weeks i have had some really quiet days of bubs movement followed by really active days! bubs cant make up her mind!!! lol, i also think that it may have something to do with babies positions, facing in or out up or down etc... and at this satge they are real wrigglers!
i get really paranoid though and keep wanting to ring midwfie to hear baby's heartbeat!!!
if you still dont notice movement and you get worried ring your midwife, just to ease ya mind!
try drinking something hot or cold, or eating some chocolate (yum!)
take care

LMAO at the Sh!t fit Jess!
At our last midwife appointment she was telling me about how baby wouldn't be moving around as much anymore, more squirming. *pffft* Bubs must have heard her as he/she hasn't sat still for days! lol
Kelly - I went through the same as you. Seemed to follow a pattern after a while too - a few days moving around, a couple of days quiet then on the next day bubs would go mental and would be kicking around all over the place, then go quiet again lol
Midwife said that it could have something to do with the anterior placenta and that I wasn't feeling all of the movements (something tells me you have one too?!?!)
Like the ladies always say on here - call your midwife to put your mind at rest. But if hubby can hear the heartbeat even when he's having a "quiet day" I'm sure he's just chilling out for a bit . I wish we could hear the heartbeat, we've borrowed a stethascope (sp?) but we've never heard anything

Someone mentioned chocolate here, and it's teh strangest thing but i swear when I eat chocolate or anythign really sugary I feel kicking much more - I dont know if I am imagining it - maybe I am projecting my love of chocolate onto my daughter, but it deifnately seems like she has a party whenever I eat the stuff - maybe it releases endorphins for her too or mine get transferred over to her?

Ethan tends to do that quite a bit. One day he is constantly moving and then the next i will feel near to nothing.

yep, i'm the same. often when i'm busy he'll be quiet for ages and i'll be thinking "gosh i haven't felt him move much today" and then the next day i'll seem to be feeling him non-stop!

I'm the same - I read that they can go quiet for a couple of days when they are having a growth spurt. So basically they are just sleeping and gowing.
Now Im noticing that first thing in the morning, early afternoon and after tea - there is a lot of movement. But when Im busy I dont feel much

Does your hubby talk to him? Whenever mine talks to my tummy (right up close, like lips on stomach) Baby goes bananas! He sings and uses silly voices, all sorts of random stuff. Baby either loves it, or is completely freaked out but its an almost surefire way to get him moving.

i went through the same thing with jack and my midwife told me to count how many movements i felt during the day. you should feel 10 movements whether they are small flutters or big kicks and if you do then thats fine.
as always though, if in doubt, call the midwife to reassure yourself

Cold stuff liek a glass of water or ice cream works too - thats what they get you to do if they want bubs to move around for a scan.
Mine are like baby octopuses atm - very quiet in the morning, but then non-stop flutters in the afternoon and evening with a few good hard jabs in there. And to think it's only going to get worse...
