Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has used that Bio Oil stuff to prevent strechmarks, and if so, does it work? Or can anyone recommend any other brand?

When should you start using it, and how often?

I'm 15 wks now, and have got a bit of a bulge - all though, I'm still not sure whether its baby, or just me eating too much food... :) what ever the case, it would be nice to prevent stretch marks, if its possible!

Thanks!

I used Cocoa Butter lotion, but have horrible stretch marks. Mainly because I started using a bit too late.

What ever you end up using...start it now!

I use Bio oil and have done the first day i knew I was pregnant, lol. Got no stretch marks YET and have huge tummy already. Ive heard nothing can really prevent stretchmarks and some people are just lucky. Hoping they will stay away.

A lot of it is to do with your natural skin elasticity I think. Also something to do with the amount of Zinc and Magnesium in your system??

In saying that..I was religious with Palmers Cocoa Butter with Paige and not one stretch mark. This time I am mixing Bio Oil and Palmers together....and none so far yet.

Fingers crossed as I quite like wearing a BIKINI in summer!!!!

I have so blimmin many from last time that I'm not even bothering with anything this time (except yummy body butter when my skin is dry). They say stretchmarks are genetic but my Mum had 4 babies and doesn't have a single one?

I swear by Bio Oil, i do have stretch marks but they are not as red and angry as they were. I'm not too sure if there is anything that can actually prevent stretch marks totally but i know that Bio Oil is really good.

I'm really cynical and say that if they are going to cme they are going to come!!

All the same, it's quite nice moisturising your bump... get something that smells good!!!

I'm not using anything either but I have heard many swear by Bio Oil.

I just use a normal moisturiser especially when my skin is dry.

I am with Nikki on this one... I am a sceptic. But then again I have so many from last time that there is little doubt that I will never wear a bikini in public again!!

But if I am wrong, I would say that starting as early as poss cannot do any harm!

Yeah Maya - I have heard that the body butter from the body shop works well too. Might have to try some.

I have been using bio oil daily since I was about 12 weeks. Im now on my second large size bottle and it is quite expensive.
Not sure if I really think putting it on will help,I read somewhere that stretch marks form in the layers of skin which are deeper than what any cream or oil can reach, but I do like massaging it into my bump anyway!

I used Cocoa Butter.. Did not have ANY stretchmarks until Ella was born!!! They are not that bad but i can still see them.

Never knew about bio oil when I was pregnant, sounds like it might be worth a try!

I have terrible terrible stretchmarks, at the start i used babyoil when i got outta the shower then the Elizabeth Annes stretchmark cream from the supermarket and that worked well, but then it got low and i did'nt see myself being able to buy more in a hurry so i kinda slacked off til in the end i was using nothing, wel i do regret that now. I have h-u-g-e b-i-g red ones starting from my belly button heading out and on my hips, i showed my mum who had brought bio oil for herself and she nicely thought i needed it more so gave it to me, ive been using it nearly a month now and i dont think anymore have come, but the ones there now hav'nt changed

I have been using Bio Oil too but some days I get an itchy tummy and then I use Palmers Cocoa butter but the itchy tummy could just be that it is stretching and growing.

I use bio-oil and palmers (one at night and the other in the morning) just cos I figured if it dosen't work at least my tummy will be nice and smooth and those are the ones people seem to recommend so I figured I will just try both! I don't have any yet, but I am still only 25 weeks so plenty of time yet! I figured if I do get them after using both of those, I can just put it down to the make up of my skin. I doubt you can prevent them, but I'll try anyway.

I have used palmers butter and no marks yet but to be honest I am not that big yet and I dont think I would have them by now anyway - I sort of think if you are going to get them then there is nothing you can do but I will try and treat my skin as it gets stretched out anyway just to make myself feel better!
