After having IVF I have developed an Ovarian Cyst on my left ovary which is about 4cm.
I'v had some pain on my left side over night and this morning. Have spoken to our OB and he wants to keep an eye on it.

I just want to know if anyone else has had one of these while pregnant.

When I had my scan this pregnancy at 8 weeks they said I have a OC on my left Overy. I freaked as it was a bit uncomfy and I had brownish discharge but apparently these OC develop and pump extra hormones to sustain pregnancy. And gradually go away as the pregnancy progresses. Mine was completely gone at the 20th week scan.

Yours could be some thing similar.

I had the same thing as Roksana, is called a pregnancy cyst of corpus luteum and is a lot different to a normal ovarian cyst. I still get pain from mine, I asked them to check it at the 20 week scan but the couldn't see anything because my ovaries and tubes were so squished by the baby.

I think with a normal cyst they just keep an eye to make sure that it doesn't burst by checking whether it is getting bigger. It is probably totally harmless and likely that it was there before you got pg. I've seen quite a few women post on here about having cysts bigger than the baby (obviously at early scans otherwise that would be one huge cyst) and everything has been fine.

Thanks Ladies.
My OC was a side effect from the IVF as I had over stimulated on the drugs. I have my 20 weeks scan in 3 weeks then a check up at the OB a few days later. So hopefully it will calm down.

It should calm down. My cousin just had her wee boy and I remember her cyst got to about 6-7 cm but they monitored her and then by the 20w scan they couldn't see it which meant it had shrunk back down.

I have a 3cm one on the right and 2.5cm on the left (that was before I got pg), apparently they grew but I never asked the question and I assume they're back to normal (their normal, they won't ever go away though, but some do).

Hi there

Don't panic about ovarian cysts in pregnancy - usually the cyst is the empty follicle (egg sac) which pumps out progesterone to keep the pregnancy going until the placenta kicks in at 12 weeks.

Sometimes they do get a little large and can be a bit sore for mum.

The ob will just watch and wait - most go by 12 weeks. Very very very rarely the ovary gets twisted - that's when your ob may do something about it.

Good luck -
