Topic: Huggies Posted: 13 September 2008 at 5:10pm |
Has anyone else found the new huggies nappies are not as absorbent as before. Also the gel seems to come out of them.
I have found they don't last 12 hours at night anymore like they use too. They leak....

I have been using Huggies for a while and have just started buying them in bulk - 90 box from PakNSave and now DS leaks. I thought it was maybe the size but he is about 8kg so too small to go up a size.
I haven't seen any gel come out.
A couple of ladies at my coffee group have changed back to Treasures but I don't want to buy a whole packet to find they don't work. I might wait until the Parent and Child Show to get a sample or two.

I use Huggies at nighttime for Alyssa and haven't noticed any issues, but I'm sure there was a thread recently where someone mentioned problems since the last change?

We're getting heaps of the little gel thingys coming out too. We've a few leaks, but Livvy's been leaking out of everything lately so I can't attribute it directly to Huggies. They're still the best thing we've used for overnight - although we haven't tried treasures since Livvy fitted newborn size.

We've had issues with Huggies for a while - someone here recommended Signature Range nappies and honestly I would never go back to Huggies now - Signature Range are awesome! (so thanks whoever that was )

Zoe has started leaking through at night too, I was wondering if it was the new nappies.

Jake started leaking overnight too! i thought it was cos he was in between sizes, but both sizes have leaked and hes well and truely into Toddler now and still he leaks. We have started using a cloth nap over the huggies at night!!
Might try Signiture Range Select -- do they really last all night??? Someone told me about a Japanese brand you can buy online that I was going to try too (don't know the name though).

I was just going to start a thread about this.
I have found the new huggies awful! Caden doesnt leak out of them, but tey made the inside of legs all red and they dont seem to hold the wee's as well, snd I can smell his wee's unlike before.
I have just got some hoem brand nappies and they have been really good and at $5 a pack that good!!! He even worse one to bed last night and had no leaks!

Yup as Sheena has mentioned above, I have had problems with the new Huggies ...I seem to think they've changed the design and chemicals they put in them. We were having MAJOR leaking issues ...and come morning the nappies smelt NASTY! ...whereas before, I can't say Lucas' urine ever really had an odour...
We are now using Treasures Giggles. I used to HATE these as I thought they were completely useless, but now that they've changed the design and new prints (kiwiana prints) they seem to be really good. They're a perfect fit on my boy AND NO LEAKS WHATSOEVER! ....and they're a damn sight cheaper than Huggies if you can get em on special.
I got a pack of 56 Walkers for $25.99 last week. For Huggies same quantity I'd have to buy 3 small packets @ around $15 ...or $10 on special, which would cost me anywhere from $30ish to $45 ...
Highly recommend giggles. You can usually get the small packets for $5.99-$6.99 on special at one of the supermarkets. Make sure they're the new packaging with kiwi prints though...

This is an interesting topic as I too have been thinking that Laurens night nappy stinks when she wakes in the morning! She wakes up with a fowl stench of urine, it is quite revolting. I never thought that it might be the Huggies and she doesn't get this fowl smell during the daytime. I just thought it was because it was old wee that it was smelling, but maybe it is the new chemicals they are using in the nappy?
We use Woolworths Select during the day and Huggies at night.

Selects are also from Countdown so it must be a progressive brand
I haven't had any problems with my Huggies and they are the only nappy I can use on Keziah due to the fact she gets baaaaad bum rashes from nappies that are for both girls and boys...

Aaah! Same here. Eimear has leaked twice in the last week and they do stink. I've mistaken wet nappies for pooey nappies in the middle of the night.
Aesthetically they're nicer but unfortunately they're not so good for functionality.
Will be getting the Signature ones next time!
