When Zamara was a baby, I religiously kept almost everything she wore / used as we were absolutely planning more babies.

Now that we have Katerina however, I'm surprised to find that there's quite a lot of Zamara's stuff that's not suitable. They're only 20 months apart - so about 4 months different in seasons - but K is on the large size for her age and Zamara has always been a midget. Thus, size vs. season wise in clothes needs, they've been nearly polar opposites (iykwim) Thankfully I have enough borderline stuff, and have been given some other clothes, that we're not in desperate need.... but that's not what this post is about anyway Laughing

Rather, for those with more than one child of the same sex... realistically, how much gets reused by subsequent children? Zamara's fairly hard on her clothes to begin with, plus a lot of her stuff (particularly sz 1+) has been bought secondhand... and I'm just not sure it's going to last through what use K could get from it, let alone subsequent children. I'm going through and trying to both pack away and declutter, and I'm not sure how much clothes to hang on to for any more babies we may have. My experience with these two tells me I'd be good to get rid of a good portion of it.... but my luck my next baby will prove me wrong, again

What do mums here do?

My mum tells me that when she took me, my brother and my sister out she'd only need to take one change of clothes and use it on whichever child needed it.  My brother is 3 years older than me but was very sick as a child and therefore small, my sister was 2 years younger than me but a bigger build so the 3 of us could wear the same size clothes.

We have a lot of hand-me-downs from my niece who was born in July (00) and my nephew who was born in January (02).  Michaela has worn them and there have actually been only one or 2 items that we haven't been able to use at all due to seasons.

I've found that the older she gets the more she grows up instead of out IYKWIM and so she can wear a few sizes (even in the same brand).  In PP size 2 are getting a bit tight and short but they're still wearable, size 3 is a good fit and size 4 seems to be the same width but a bit longer - she has (and wears) clothes in all 3 sizes.  So I guess I'm trying to say that you'll probably find that as she gets older she can wear more and more hand-me-downs.

Then again, if you're in declutter mode then definitely just keep the basics that you'll use all year round no matter the season or childs sex (singlets, socks, knitwear etc) and a few key pieces that you can't stand to give away.

I was given a huge box of hand me downs that are just wonderful - A has worn almost everything so far, and I'm finding it great to have 'play clothes" that I don't mind if she crawls on concrete in etc.

I am passing most of the best stuff (second hand and stuff i bought new) on to a friend with a 4mth old, on the proviso that it comes back if we have another girl...

I've kept unisex tiny baby clothes for next time.

I kept all of Keiras clothes and Maddi has only ever worn a few things. Maddi is a lot bigger than Keira and when ever I pull out boxes of clothes Maddis seems to have already grown to big for most of it. I really should try be more organised and find a few boxes ahead but really its just so much easier to go out and buy new stuff.
Keira didnt seem to grow out of many clothes to fast so a lot of the stuff I have pulled out has been really worn out.

However today I pulled out a box of clothes Keira wore when she was 1 and walking around and Maddi seems to fit them perfectly. I chuked a lot of it as I just didnt see myself putting Maddi in its not like we have heaps of storage. She wore some today and it did seem strange having a miniature Keira again.

Also I have found that the girls are so different that alot of Keira clothes (colour etc.) just look silly on Maddi and I like that they have their own unique look.

Yeah, I've kept all the baby clothes regardless as we didn't find out the flavour of either child so most things are unisex It's the 00's and up that's the problem... and I'm starting to suspect it'll be a moot point anyway as they may well end up in the same size at the same time! As it is, Z still fits size 0 pants (albeit more like capris) and K's a perfect fit in size 0 now But I keep telling myself she'll slim down when she figures out crawling....

Oh, and Daizy I agree with the unique look thing There's a few things of Zamara's that I've put away without putting them with K's things... there's still wear in them, and they'd fit, but they're just so symbolic of *Zamara* in my mind that I can't put them on K. Not to mention that they're Z's favorites so we'd probably have World War III if I tried!

I put the girls special stuff (coming home outfits etc.) in their memory boxes.

I've never kept any little baby stuff coz after each pregnancy I wasn't planning on having another any time soon lol! By the time I got preg with the gremlins Maya was 3 and I figured by the time the gremlins get to 3 that stuff will be really dated so I only kept a few key things. Have kept way more of the gremlins stuff, pretty much from 12mo on which is when I found out I was preg. I have no idea how much she'll actually wear, they're similar to your girls in that they're 4 mths apart season wise but lil miss is tiny so who knows. She does have a couple of dresses that were theirs as little babies and that I gave to a friend for her daughter then got given back after I had her which is nice, it's cute seeing her in the same things they wore.

I probably won't keep much of the stuff they have now, or of Maya's stuff from now coz the older they get the longer they fit stuff for and the harder they are on it.

Oh but the exception is school uniforms - at $75 a dress they are bloody well being handed down!
