He won’t walk

First of all, your wee boy is totally within the normal range for when they start walking. Out of my friends, the general age range from when their kids started walking goes anywhere from 9/10 months right up until 20 months. Some kids just tend to focus on other developmental milestones, or maybe language skills etc

And it's definitely not a good thing to compare them to other kids, I know it's hard not to (I find myself doing it sometimes) - they're all unique and will do things in their own time. No two kids are the same.

My boy certainly didn't do things in the correct order and he took a long time to start walking! He was sitting at 5 months, just before 8 months started pulling himself up in the cot and walking along furniture, crawled AFTER THAT at 9 months, could stand on his own at 10 months but didn't take his first steps until the day after his 1st birthday (and even then it was only 4-5 steps at a time). It wasn't until he was 14 months and he taught himself how to get himself to standing position off the ground on his own accord (as opposed to someone placing him on his feet or him pulling himself up on furniture), next thing I knew he was walking more and more steps at a time.

Now he's 19 months old, and he walks perfectly fine but still doesn't walk everywhere, if we go out he's usually in the pram (otherwise its just a nightmare) and I find he still expects to be carried quite a lot.

If he's not keen on walking just yet, no point in forcing the idea or stressing that he isn't up to par with his little friends, he'll be off before you know it and then you'll be wishing you had your baby back! I know I certainly miss the days where I could plop my boy down on the ground and guarantee he'd stay in the one place!

absolutely normal.  tom started showing all the signs of walking months ago but only took his first steps at 11 months and then stopped and flatly refused.  Its only been in the last 2 weeks that he's picked up again and day by day has crawled less.  Crawling is still the fastest way to get from A to B in his book but walking is starting to have its advantages (you can reach more things you arent meant to).

That sounds pretty normal to me.  Michaela is the oldest in my coffee group and was the first to do most things too.  She was sitting unattended by 4 months, commando crawling by 5 months, cruising the furniture shortly after that, crawling on hands and knees backwards by 6 months and forwards by 7 months. 

But while all the other babies in our group started walking she was content crawling.  She took steps no problem and used furniture or her trolley as a walking aid and we used to build little courses with furniture spaced so she had to walk unhelped between them and she could walk unaided but she just didn't seem to want to. 

She could get places so much faster when she was crawling and I think that is the major reason she didn't start walking until later.

Spencer still doesn't walk, he will walk holding a hand or with a push along toy but won't walk independently. He has taken a few steps but unfortunately had a couple of accidents that have knocked his confidence, he is fairly cautious by nature, except about climbing things

On the picking up side of things, my friend has a 15 month old that has been walking for a while and can now run and she picks him up just as much as I pick Spencer up as he doesn't always go the way she wants him to and when he finds something interesting he goes deaf and his legs stop working.

Kylah doesnt walk at all and shes 14 months. She walks around furniture and she will walk if you hold her hands but shes never walked by herself and has stood up while in bed with us and let go but thats about it..

I would be so pleased if Jaymie was taking steps while holding my hand... or even crawling! She is also 15 months and doesn't move at all except for swivelling around on her bottom. DH didn't walk until he was 18 months old and never crawled. She has been checked physically and is fine. I am not worried, I know she will do it in her own time.
