Here are some piccies of the cot in progress
How it started life - a pile of recycled rimu and matai
Look at what my clever hubby did with that old wood
He's just got to finish sanding all the bits then put on the child safe oil to finish it off

that is sooo cool, well done your hubby. Looks like he has put a lot of hours into it which will be so cool cos you can pass it down through the family and your grandkids will be able to use the cot grandad made! Love the nursery too, I wish I could paint the walls but will have to make do with painting the furniture.

Wow maybe your hubby could teach my hubby how its done - the handyman stuff I mean LOL. Where did you get the waredrobe from or is it another master makes of your hubbies?? Oh and love the colour on the walls - what paint colour is it?? Noisy aye - my babies room which is presently my 13 year old babies room is a light blue but would like to go neutral more

 for your James
I was going to ask the same thing James - that is the exact style cot we want. It's beautiful - really really beautiful. That is such a beautiful thing for a daddy to make. Every night something he made will hold his new baby and keep them safe - just like you did for the first nine months of their life. Thats pretty special...

Leish!!!!!! you made me cry! I'm SOOOOOOOO proud of him! I'm going to get a little brass plate engraved "Handmade by Daddy 2006" to put on it.
He's actually never done anything like this before which is probably why it has taken him 5 months so far (and that's working on it the whole weekend!) to get it just right. We took the design from my mate's cot (so that we got all of the measurements and safety features right), I think she bought her's in Farmers (would have been about 5 years ago though). It's one of those 3-in-1 styles (basinette - cot - sofa).
The wardrobe is just old MDF shelving (was in the house when we bought it) and we just put some MDF doors on the front and got the teddy bear handles from $2 shop
Paint colours: Resene Solitare on the walls (same as the rest of the house - "cream, on cream, on cream - David McNee would have been impressed, NOT! lol)
and the Bears are test pots from Levene (I'll have to get back to you on those). Stencil was from Spotlight.
