Topic: my worst holiday ever! Posted: 01 November 2008 at 9:49am |
thank god it's over! the worst $2000 i've spent in a while and really wish i didn't go and used the money on the house!
we've been away for the past 10days in hastings for BIL's wedding. we flew to welly with the in-laws, then met other BIL, SIL and kids and all drove to hastings in a mini-van. that was fun!
got to the house in hastings and MIL started making snide/bitchy comments to SIL and didn't stop until they had a total blow-up 2 DAYS later!!
i've never seen my MIL act so selfish, bitchy and completely childish like that! i felt so sorry for my SIL and she handled it like a champ, until it got to the point where enough was enough.
things slightly improved after the blow-up, but holidaying with so many people is just not relaxing at all! my BIL has to be so organised! nightly meetings at the dinner table to discuss every detail of the following day drove me insane!
the brother that got married i've only met a couple of times and i'm so glad! he's such an arrogant arse!!! barely spoke to any of us and never thanked anyone for the things we did for them and all the running around we did because he was so dis-organised! thank god they live in oz and we don't see them much!!
DH and i got to spend 2 days in welly on the way home by ourselves which was great. my dad gave us a voucher for $200 off our accom through his work BUT........ somehow i lost it so i got really upset about that because the only reason we stayed there was because of the voucher. i was also bummed about missing the rihanna concert because we were in welly the same night
but, the icing on this dreadful cake.......................my precious kitty died on tuesday and i wasn't here we've been together for almost 15yrs and it seems so surreal that she's gone. my eyes keep playing tricks on me since we've been home and i keep seeing her around the house. she would always sleep under the blankets at night curled up in front of me, last nights sleep was the worst i've had in ages. i miss her so so much and hate that i didn't get to see her one more time. before we left i said goodbye to her and told her to wait til i got home, because i just knew she wasn't going to last much longer. but she just couldn't
my lovely dad took her to the vet for me on wednesday so i'm going to pick up her ashes today....i'm dreading it. now i just need to find a nice box to put her and her mum 'pusspuss' in.
pusspuss got hit by a car while we were on holiday in nelson 3 years ago...why do these things always happen when i'm on holiday!

And sorry to hear about Kitty It's never easy to lose a pet you have had for such a long time, even when you know it's going to happen soon..

I am so sorry about your cat, but you know what, she probably really wanted to spare you. Cats are amazing like that - people can do it too, i know my step nana waited for the one moment her daughter left her side to pass away, and my kitty waited till I wasn't there too.
So take comfort in knowing that to the end your kitty was thinking about you. Heartbreaking as it is as you feel you should be there, sometimes we have to let them make those choices.

Oooh, that is so sad. My charley died when i wasnt around too - he was at the vets overnight and the cleaner was there as it was early morning, so he too had someone patting him as he passed away. I think the worst is that you have this mental image that you have to create of it - I mean Charley died 5 years ago and it still makes me cry when I think of it.
it sounds like it was very peaceful. I know that if I had been there when Charley died, i would have been inconsolable and would have passed that fear onto Charley, so for that I am glad i wasn't there. Perhaps that is something that you can take comfort from?
Sorry for making you cry :(

don't be sorry miss....i cry at the drop of a hat these days
my nana reckons kitty new she was getting near the end and that's why she spent most of her time over at their place (through our fence). apparently cats often go away to die??
she also said that she was glad i wasn't there when kitty passed because i would've been so upset and it wouldn't have been as peaceful for her........i'm not sure on that one yet, would've liked her to be in my arms and know that i loved her
