Hi guys, have any of you experienced blood in your urine? And what does this mean? Is it something to be panicked about?

Last night I went to the bathroom and once I'd wiped, there was a small amount of blood on the paper. It wasn't 'old' blood, like it wasn't brown, it was definitely bright. It happened again this morning after I went too.

There's nothing on my liner in between going. My midwife wasn't very helpful when I spoke to her (just told me to drink plenty and give my doc's nurse a call if it's still happening tomorrow morning).

I saw my doc just yesterday, and my urine tests were all fine. I've just done a quick search on it and it could be the onset of a UTI but I'm still feeling a lil unsettled about it. Can anyone shed some light?

could it be a show? Your getting to the stage now where that might happen but Im not sure about blood actually in your pee sorry. Probably TMI but unless you actually peed blood and there was lots in the bowl its possibly a show or UTI although I didnt know you bleed with those. Go to the doctors if your really worried though, let us know how you get on

Urinary Tract Infection - yeah I had a look on the net about these, and it turns out that blood in your pee can be prior to any other symptoms you get with a urine infection. Was news to me too!

Yeah there wasn't much at all, but still, I was a lil bit surprised to see any! I shouldn't worry at all, but try telling a first time pregnant mum to be that haha. And my midwife didn't make me feel any better. She actually felt like I was putting her out because I had to make an extra appoin next week. There's no way I'm NOT having an appointment so close to my due date! Grr...

It could be a show, but it wasn't thick, gloopy blood like I expected a show to look like, and there's no blood in between bathroom stops. No mucus either.

Hopefully bubs decides to come shortly

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and yes, as a veteran of these horrible things, I have been known to pee flecks of blood on occasion. Provided that your urine tests are fine, it could be a one (or two) off thing where there are little flecks of blood that have made it from your kidneys down. You can ask your doctor to send you for blood tests to check your kidney function - or repeat the uring tests in a couple of days. The best thing to do though is drink loads and loads of water to 'flush the pipes' and keep a look out for a rise in temperature, ache in your lower back/kidney region or anything else strange. Pregnancy can add a lot of extra strain to your kidneys, so remember to keep hydrated. If it is any consolation, last pregnancy I had a couple of UTIs and kidney stones and Andrew wasn't bothered or effected at all...still turned out a healthy 9lbs2oz...
Take care, and enjoy the water

Thank you Yes, had a doc's appointment just yesterday and the urine was fine. As for the back pain, I've been having a dull ache in my lower back for the last I don't know how many weeks so that's not unusual.

I do take relief in the fact that everything else is 'normal'.

It could be bub's just pushing on things. Your pee test was normal at the Dr yesterday, but over night something could have developed. Ring the nurse and ask if you can have a pee test done as you feel somehting is not right.

Cranberry juice is really good for UTIs and kidney infections! I had a UTI that got into one of my kidneys... by the end of a 3 litre bottle of cranberry juice (and lots of water) I was feeling much better!

I have my majoc pills that I got from the dr. I take one and they dissapear into thin air. Just have to make sure that I can take them now I am pregnant. I think I was given them the last time I was pregnant so fingers crossed I can. I hate them and seem to get them every few months.
