QuoteReplyTopic: Rawleighs safe during pregnancy? Posted: 25 November 2008 at 11:42am
DH's lovely Nana sells Rawleighs and has stocked me up with all sort of lotions and potions for the aches and pains of pregnancy. I have no idea if it is safe to use though and didn't want to hurt her feelings by asking! Any ideas??
Someting in the back of my head tells me clove oil is contraindicated during pregnancy - only for use in labour? Lavender oil I'm pretty sure is OK in really small doses, and I have no idea about wintergreen. But like I said you might want to check with a naturopath or similar.

eek I just googled the individual ingredients (didn't think of doing that - duh pregnancy brain!) and all of them are contraindicated during pregnancy Lovely Nana put some on my wrist so I could smell it! I've have just scrubbed the skin red trying to get if off.
Ermmm I think you'd have more problems if it was ingested . Lotions on the skin are only partially absorbed as your sweat glands would probably cause most of it to be evapourated. I used lavendar oil every once and a while during pregnancy and all was well.
lavender should be OK but i like the others have clove sitting in the back of my head saying a rather large NO no idea why though. I must have read it somewhere. I'd check with someone in the know does rawleighs have an 0800 number or simialr way to contact them?
