Topic: 9 days overdue. help. Posted: 27 November 2008 at 9:43am |
Hi there. Our baby is 9 days overdue, and s/he seems to be enjoying being in mummy's tummy.
Could anyone advise what can help us to meet the baby soon? We are planning homebirth, and am really hoping the labour starts soon.
cheers.

Hi daisukem! I have bumped a thread in the Pregnancy section for you, and you might also like to check out some of the other threads here.
Good luck - sorry I can't really help as I only went 3 days over with mine, but I sympathise as even those 3 days felt like forever!
(Personally, I took raspberry leaf capsules for a couple of days and then labour started, but it might have just been the right time by then. According to my midwife the only really reliable way of getting things started is nipple stimulation/expressing but you have to keep at it, she knew of someone who managed to express 80ml of colostrum before it all started happening. So if you're really patient and have a breast pump, you could give that a go!)

Pfft my little man was induced at 16 days over cos he wasnt coming out on his own for love nor money, I thought he'd be dressed ready for school he took so long to arrive! Anyhow... I tried all the old wives tales and nothing worked so in my opinion I dont think there is anything you can really do baby will come when h/she is ready!!!!!
Though I wasnt that dedicated with the nipple business, they were too sore for more than 5 mins at a time which isnt even close to what you need.

Alyssa was 9 days over so I can empathise with you. I went out to a Cultural festival so I did allot of walking, then while I was watching the music POP went my waters (luckily it was just a small leak, so no embarrassing wet patch).
I'm not sure anything really works unless there is some sort of physical intervention.

try doing the splits. lol. when i was studying as a personal trainer we were told not to let anyone pregnant do any wide stretching / splits type things cos it can bring on labour. its the only thing i can think of that probably hasnt been said yet

My DD was nearly 3 weeks overdue when she finally arrived. I tried everything except castor oil. YUK!
Eating heaps of pineapple could help - think it has similar effect raspberry leaf tea is suppose to have.
Keeping active is suppose to help too.
Good luck!

I was 9 days over too, and tried absolutely everything....
I honestly think that giving up all hope of having her without induction was what started the labour for me!
