Topic: Hind water leak? Posted: 01 December 2008 at 1:59pm |
Hi everyone!
TMI... I've been getting a browny yellowy watery discharge for about the last 4 days or so and seeing that the MW was in the area today she said she'd drop in to have a look. She said that it is likely a slow hind water leak and that it is normal. Also said that unless it is a greeny colour there is no need to be concerned.
Has anyone else had leaking hind waters and were they coloured? When did you go into labour after noticing the leak? Do you have to stop having sex and baths cos of possibility of infection or is that only if the main waters are leaking?
Thanks guys!

Hi, I had my waters leak at 35 weeks with my last pregnancy and then 12 hours later they broke completely, labour started but then stopped of its own accord and baby wasn't born for another 3 weeks.
After the initial leak I was told, no sex, no public baths/showers and also that I would need IV antibiotics at the birth. Mine leaked on a Sunday and I was suppose to see the hospital for a follow up but ended up there at 2am anyway with contractions and broken waters. I was put on an oral antibiotic until he was born but they might not have done that if they hadn't of broken completely. Also I ended up having a c/s as they also found he was breech so not sure if I still would have had the IV antibiotics.
Mine were clear when they initially leaked and were clear for the 3 weeks that I leaked after they broke completely. I was told though that pinkish was ok as that was most like mixed with stuff from the show but to let them know if it turned brown or green.
Hope that helps a little.

I had a hind leak at 35weeks and was observed in hosp for 2 days.
My waters were clear, had a scan and they couldnt see the leak but tested using a big cotton bud type thing that changed colour if it was amniotic fluid which it was.
Pretty much told the same things as cuppatea about public pools, baths or showers, no sex and to take it easy as I was still working fulltime. Contined to leak until I went into labour at 38weeks and they broke naturally. Was given IV abs as soon as I got to the hosp.

The initial leak felt like a lot more, I went to check as thought it might have been either the show or blood, it wasn't but it just didn't look like discharge and it had a strong smell to it (smelt like semen). Then after my water broke totally (no mistaking that for anything else) then the leaking would happen with babies movements or with me changing position rather than just randomly like with discharge.
Hope that helps

Thanks for the info everyone! She still hasn't arrived yet but still seems happy in there. The leaking hasn't got any greater so I guess thats good.

For me it was leaking clear water, which I could feel coming out like I was weeing myself, contacted Midwife and sent to hosp and confirmed amniotic fluid.
