Topic: Introducing Addison Emma Kate Posted: 01 July 2006 at 9:06pm |
Hi everyone, well Im home now with my baby girl, got sick of being in hospital and missed my family so took the first chance to come home.
The labour went really well. Had to be at hospital 8am Thursday and had the gel at 8.45am then just had to walk which was not easy as started having mild back pain straight away and that stuff burns!(by the way those heatpack things I mentioned in another thread were great) We werent allowed to leave the hospital so just paced the corridors and room, about 11am the pain was getting worse and at 1pm i was about 4cm and my midwife broke my waters. Walked some more, the contractions were getting pretty strong but not unbearable, tried the gas which made me feel sick then had the epidural which didnt work straight away, was about 4.30ish by now and my midwife started the syntosin stuff then went for a break. I started to feel the pain again around 5pm and it got really bad really quickly! Its funny, in my notes its got my midwife going on a break at 4.50pm, came back in and made a note at 5.10pm Robyn very uncomfortable, 5.20 did a v/e, fully dialated, 5.35pm Addison born. It all just happened so fast in the end, only 15 minutes of pushing which was a lot different to my 3 hours last time. Didnt have the 'ring of fire' but was very pleased it was only 15 minutes even though it felt like longer! They put her in an incubator for a wee while because her breathing needed to be monitored, then they noticed she had some strange bruising on her arms, hands and head which had nothing to do with the birth so they thought she might have a clotting problem and took lots of bloods but they were fine so they dont know what the problem was plus her glucose levels were all over the place so she was getting tested before and after every feed which was horrible. Today though they were really happy with her and her sugar levels were stable so they said we can go home. She is feeding (bottle) really well, every 3 hours and sleeping most of the time in between, in fact so far we havent even heard her have a good scream but Im sure its coming. Kobe loves his little sister and has been sooo good with being passed around the relatives. If Addy so much as makes a squeek he makes us 'pat her' to calm her. Well better go do some unpacking now and get sorted for next feed. Oh and if you are wondering where the Emma came from so am I! It was one of our choices and hubby decided at the last minute that he wanted it included which didnt bother me, makes her name rather long though! Thanks for all your support guys! Good luck to the other July mummies due.
Just after she was born
home in her bed
Kobe is very interested in whats going on!

She's gorgeous!!!! Congratulations to Mum, Dad and the very, very proud looking big brother. How big was she? She looks perfectly in proportion (unlike my great big lump did last year!).
