...that you only get the freaky "niggles" at night? Then when you eventually get back to sleep and wake up in the morning NOTHING!??!!

I was up half the night with shooting pain down the right side of my bump, then HEAPS of cramps at the bottom of my very hard bump, nausea, "funny" belly and then I eventually get off to sleep - wake up at 9am ( hee hee) and nothing! not even a twinge!

And my preggy heater has finally kicked in

Sorry to whinge but we were so excited last night - thinking it was all on. Even though I had no pain or "contractions" there is a history in my family of contraction free labours (they don't get the pain bit until pushing) so I don't know if I will "know" when I am in actual labour (does that make sense??!?! )

You know when you go to bed at night and you can hear the hot water cylinder, the heater, the small crank noise in the roof....because it is the most quiet and you are relaxed and more aware....it could be why you are feeling the niggles more. I do think that you get them thru aout the day but feel them more at night!1

Hey I am no expart so please dont mark my words!!!

I'm exactly the same Toni!! Especially being overdue... Every night I hop into bed thinking 'this could be it!' but wake in the morning to feeling quite normal again.

But yeah like Roksana said, maybe it's just when we're settled down, we pay much more attention to our tums because there's nothing else to pay attention to at 2am in the morning haha

Yeah i never even noticed anything with Paris - until i looked back and realised that heyi had my show on the friday and just thought i was big and uncomfy all that weekend.. noo fact is i prob was too busy to take notice of the fact i needed to ppe every 5 mins cos there were shooting pains frm down there. lol. You may think you aren't sure, but you will get to a point where YOU WILL KNOW... or will just do what i did and find it a complete suprise when i got up tuesday morning and waters broke everywhere and i had her 5 hrs later .lol

LOL Toni (and Baalamb)...don't worry....it will all end soon. I remember being awake for a week before Andrew was born with niggles and starts and stops etc. My midwife told me not to stress out, that all pregnancies do come to an end.
On a side note, a friend's sister had her baby a couple of nights ago. She had a few niggles and was waiting to meet the midwive's criteria for calling in the middle of the night and then woosh...after a five minute labour gave birth at home at 1.40am. (Not that I'm trying to freak you guys out or anything...) In any case, it's her third baby and both mum and bubs are very well and having a few days in hospital to recuperate.

My cousin had her third baby a couple of days ago - she woke at midnight with contractions, went to hospital at 3am, she could tell her waters were about to break so went into the toilet (she said she'd rather it happened there then get her socks wet!!) and when they broke out came the baby as well. She said it was so freaky she put her hand down and could feel the head, made it to the bed just, one push and she was out! I hope if I have more babies they are like that!!

That's funny about not wanting to get the socks wet - funny because I can totally understand that!
I hope I don't get used to these niggles and ignore the REAL niggles . I have only had 2 fears this whole pregnancy #1 going into labour at work (finished work last Friday so that one wasn't realised) and #2 not making it to the hospital in time!

Spent almost an hour sitting in traffic on Lincoln Rd last night (the road our hospital is on) and all that was going through my mind (other than "OMG I need to pee!" ) was "what if this happens when I am in real labour and end up having to have the baby in the car?!?!

I thought "this is it" for two weeks with taine. I had niggles for that long - as everyone can probably attest - I moaned and bitched constanlty. Then my waters broke and I knew. now, I think that at that time I nicely got online to tell everyone - how considerate!!! (note those of you about to go into labour!)
