Topic: Body hair not growing? Posted: 20 December 2008 at 9:01pm |
This is so random! I shaved my U/Arms and legs last week and it's grown back less than 1mm! It's slowed down to nearly nothing. And a couple of small pimples are taking forever to heal. Is this perhaps my body putting all effort into finishing bubs?
The only hair that is growing is the annoying fuzz on my belly. I feel like a Yeti!
Any one else ever noticed this? Fingernails have slowed right down too but hair and nails are all very very dry. (I'm guzzling water as i'm paranoid about dehydration in this heat).

And.... Good news too! I had my scan on Monday and she has turned the right way up YAY!!! Measuring around 36 weeks and at 5.8 pound so she is very slightly above average with a nice strong heart beat and VERY strong little legs for kicking. (Well, as accurate as any scan can be anyway).!!!!!!!

You are lucky. Pregnancy 'generally' causes an increase in hair growth. That is why permanant hair removal treatments (such as laser or electrolysis) are not recommended during pregnancy. Yes there are safe methods for electrolysis; and some laser. But because of hormone levels during pregnancy, its advised to avoid incase the increased hair growth is just pregnancy related.
I personally am finding the hair growing more on certain parts of my body, and slower on others.

Haha I thought I was the only weirdo that grew hair on my belly when pregnant! Scared the heck outta me lol!
Actually the hair on my head was the best it got so thick and shiny. 7 months since the girls were born it's stayed that way Love it!

I was the same Dana, during most of my pregnancy I grew more hair everywhere (according to the old wive's tales it's worse if you're having a boy!) but once I hit about 32 weeks it suddenly slowed down. It's stayed that way during breastfeeding as well, which is brilliant because it's not like I have heaps of time in the shower to shave any more! Must be a hormonal thing, or, yeah, the body's putting all its effort into growing bubs (and that's continued with producing breast milk too I guess).

Its funny you say that weegee about the wifes tale! I've had 3 girls and never noticed tummy hair. Now I'm pregnant with a boy and its WFT is that on my tummy lol.
Unfortunately I also have more facial hair which is embarrasing :(

All my hair stopped growing during both my pregnancies as well. It was great. I didn't notice any on my tummy.

How funny is that! Last time, hair on my head was thicker, leg & underarm hair grew faster.
This time with a boy my hair hasn't grown, nor have my nails, but in the last couple of weeks it's sped up slowly!
I always thought that the old wives tale was that with girls your hair grew thicker & fast & with boys it was opposite.

I have the belly hair and fingernails have been growing fast, but everywhere else the hair has been growing slowly! Which is great when bending to shave legs gets harder and harder! The bonus is reduction in facial hair, which unfortunately is usually an issue for me.

Yep I've definitely noticed armpit hair and leg slower to grow and seems to be more sparse as well, but yep with you all on the belly thing! (only a little though thankfully!)

Well my hair hardly grew at all with Leah and I didn't really shave my legs at all the whole pg with her. With Joel, while I didn't get excessive hair growth it was certainly more than with Leah.
And my fingernails and toenails grew very fast second pg as well, was cutting my fingernails twice a week for a while.

i used to have to shave my legs every 3rd day, then decided to get them waxed. the hair now only grows in patches! it's so funny, and my mate who is a beauty therapist laughs as she says it's like waxing one full leg when doing both. soo glad about that! oh but yes, yeti like on the tummy .... hmmm soo attractive NOT lol

Hmm thought I'd do my legs today cos thought "it must be about time" - not that I can really see down round my shins anymore. The hair was just fuzzy and light so I needn't have bothered.
I've got a some increased hair growth around my tummy area and one of those linea nigra lines too! Also my fingernails have taken off - usually I can't grow them.

I have not found there to be much difference at all tbh.
I do seem to have more fuzz on my boobs and tummy though
