Topic: OHbaby website feedback please Posted: 11 April 2012 at 3:18pm |
Hi Wonderful people.
We have some questions we need your help with. We're looking at our site and it's functionality and would love your feedback:
1. is there anything that you would like to see on the site that we don't currently have?
2. Is there anything we currently have on the site that you would like to see differently? or get rid of?
3. Do you use your profile tab for pictures of your child/baby scan etc and their ages etc or would you be happy to have it at the click of a button instead of there with you on the site all the time?
4. how would you like to interact with other members?
5. If you could use OHbaby! to connect with friends - how would you like to do that?
6. Do you blog?
7. what do you think of OHbaby! blogs?
8. What would make you want to blog?
9. content - is there anything you would like to see more of?
10. Any other comments welcome
if you don't want to answer all that's fine - but this is a very good chance to have your say on how OHbaby! will work for you in the near future :)
Speak now or forever hold your peace :) he he

1&2. Something that immediately comes to mind is better forum thread navigation. Right now if I want to look at previous pages of a thread I have to click on a page other than the last page and select the page rather than any kind of forward/back buttons for thread navigation. If I click on the last page and want to go back a page I have to exit and then do as I said above. I'd also like an unread function where you can click on a thread and it takes you to the last post you read.
3.I do have a picture on my profile, but just for my avatar. I don't know I'd use anything additional to that.
4. I'm fine with threads, PM's and what is currently there. I haven't tried out the buddy function.
5. Not sure
6. I do, but not on OHbaby!
7. I've read a few, but don't follow any of them regularly.
8-10. Nope, that's it.

I second what Bky said re 1&2 - a function to move smoothly through pages on a thread would be super handy esp when you've been MIA and want to catch up.
Yes I have a blog but outside of OB. Anything that's bothering/exciting me etc makes me blog.
Personally I prefer to stay anon on OB given that its a mainly NZ site and this country ain't that big! So am happy with with the functions it currently has for connecting with people.

1 & 2..can not think of any.
3..I used to have a pic of my kids on my ticker, but as they got older I took it off..DH is big on internet sercuity & this is the www, don't know who is out there & my kids are at school now so don't want some random person being able to pick them out...OTT yes maybe.
4..as is & PM if need/want to but maily on forum.
5..no as I like to be anon as well, when I first joined we were ttc & I did not want family/friends to know as they would of thought us mad. I know a couple on here but don't make it know & don't hang out where they do.
6..yes & I am getting back into it, more random thoughts on a subject that interest me.
7..I have used it 2 times, I doubt I would use it again, I like a personalised look & I found it hard to navigate my way around.
8..on here? it would be the set up...
9..not sure
10..I feel it is very quiet on here & maybe for me its because my kids are getting older. I am at the moment more interested in topics along the line of saving money, eating clean, cooking from scratch, minimizing & weight loss...& I know there are different sections for some of these but don't think a lot really use them as much as the General threads.
Overall I think OB is an easy to use friendly forum & have enjoyed being part of it over the years

After you mentioned the downloadable birthday party invites at the focus group the other night I thought I would check them out - they are really cute and would certainly use them now that I know they are there but I wonder if 4 to a page makes them too small? Perhaps 2 (landscape) would be better. I'd also prefer that we were able to download them in word so that I can type in the names and party details (so people don't have to read my messy writing and I can copy and paste the address etc).
Decided to have more of a look around the site to see what other treasures are here...hence my first post in a forum. I have read the odd one before but I tend to turn to my coffee group for advice suggestions as a first port-of-call. Agree with the comment above about NZ being a very small place so would prefer to keep profile anon (or only share minimal personal info).

Please Please please can you change the font size back to what it was of the page numbers, "ranking", number of posts, location etc and the last post by (eg Queen Elizabeth 2") in the Forums.
I'm blind enough as it is and its really hard to read and a nightmare to click on, on a 10.5" touch screen so its a pain in the butt to use now.
It only seems to have changed this afternoon on my computers (laptop and touch screen tablet PC)

I totally agree! That is one of the reasons that I haven't used this forum much. It is too hard to know what you have read and what you haven't. There are some really great forums that show you unread messages by topic so you know where to go to read the new ones. Also they have an icon next to the unread messages so you don't end up reading the same thing again.

Can you please condense down the number of sections? For instance a lot of the support pages could simply become stickies on a main support board.
At the moment I think there are so many pages where you can post, that a lot of them just are barely used, so it makes them difficult to find people who can offer advice or support.
Maybe a new sticky thread for midwife recommendations and birthing stories - or a cumulative "post baby" board, rather than these things which are so important for mums to be to be able to read getting hidden or stuck in "due in" threads.
I feel like the community doesn't have a lot of interaction with each other, even though this is supposed to be a place for interaction, support, and sharing.

Hi Admin, just wondering if there is still away of searching for your own posts in a thread (in order to print them out)? I know Katherine gave us instructions a couple of years back, but they no longer work.
TIA!
