My parents are separating after 19years - a total and unexpected surprise for my mum and therefore for me too!

I am not sure what to tell my kids (3 and 4.5), but am going to have to say something pretty soon.

Aww hun I am so sorry to hear, my mum and dad spilt almost 3 years ago and I can understand the hurt and shock you are going thur now. My son was 3 when mum and dad split and I just told him that we were moving and that nan was moving with us. Granddad was living in a another house but that they all loved him and he could spend as much time as he wanted with either grandparent. its prop a little deffernt that my dad is a acloachol who has nothing to do with my son but my is very close with james so that helps.
big hugs

Sorry to hear you are going through this. My parents have separated after 30 years together about 6 months ago after my dad decided it was an awesome idea to start serial cheating on her... ANYWAY... The emotions etc you are going through at the moment I totally understand - I never thought "it" would happen to us etc...

My DD is only 14 months old so I didnt have to explain anything to her - I am still sad though because he doesnt seem to want anything to do with her and poor old mum is stuck in limbo while theyre trying to sort everything out. She was always a SAHM with us kids and so was faced with the rest of her life with no career/income...

Tough times, big hugs xxx

My parents broke up 8 years ago (still seems like yesterday!) after 26 years together ... came out of blue and completely as a shock. It is really hard to deal with and especially if your mum is in shock and you are having to help her through it so (((bigs hugs))) for you. In regards to your kids- you'd be surprised- kids take these things in their stride- if you tell them in a no fuss way and don't show that you are really upset about it then they will accept that Nana and granddad have decided to live in different houses now but they both still love you and you can visit both of them when you want.
