I warned my mw that I have small babies & that she's bound to panic at the end. And they did. Baby came out the biggest I'd had!

BUT what they did was scan me every 2 weeks at the end with formal scans & then every other week I was up in ADU having ctg's and fluid/measures scans.

Did you have IUGR or SFD babies? Mine were all small for dates in the end. First one just missed out cause my dates were wrong based on the 20 week scan but I got 13%, 9% & my biggest baby was 5% but she was short but chubby were as the other two were long but skinny.

What they'll do is look at inducing you if there seems to be a reason that baby isn't growing inside.

Also I wonder if your Mum had small babies as well?

Another thing I forgot is they now have customised growth charts, so they'll plot your other babies & this one & cross check it against your height and something else.

My son was classes as SFD, although there were some concerns about his size when I was scanned at 34 weeks so possibly undiagnosed IUGR. My daughter was IUGR, stopped growing at 36 weeks and I was induced at 38 weeks. I've also had 2 miscarriages. Drs are thinking my placentas don't cope very well will full term pregnancy. Funnily enough my first child was a text book baby, full term and a nice weight, so not sure what's happened since then!

Hi,

I am on my third pregnancy and my first had IUGR, he was born at 34 weeks after he stopped growing. My second was fine and born at 38 weeks, this time im 16 weeks so not sure yet but I start growth scans at 20 weeks, one a month and then more after 32 weeks.

If your midwife knows you have a history of IUGR then she should refer you to a specialist and they will monitor you closely. You still have your midwife as your LMC you just get extra care on top

this is my first pregancy and Im currently 30w+6d

I was reffered to an OB and went and saw them on Monday where they did a scan and then informed me that she is IUGR. She has been measuring small since about 26 weeks. But still growing but slowly.

They also sent me for bloods to check up for any infections such as rubella, toxoplasmosis or cytomegalovirus whilst in the womb. Those results should come back in the next day or two (FX)

Im on growth scans every two weeks now and weekly OB appts.

I still feel lots of movements, I dont have high blood pressure. I eat well. When I was born I was 7lbs13oz. My placenta is anterior...and they havent mentioned that there is anything wrong with the placenta. I have had no bleeding either. And everything else in my pregnancy has been fine and normal

So Im really confused and worried as to why this is happening

What they have told me is the blood flow through the umbilical cord is high which means she is not getting the nutrients she needs. Its in the 95th centile and they tell me 100 is abnormal

They have told me that if she stops growing or her growth slows right down then they will look at inducing. I did ask about a C-Section and they said they would try to induce first...but I guess if baby is in destress then they will go for the Csec.

Im trying not to worry or stress out about it but its kinda hard not to sometimes. They have also advised that I go on restricted hours at work to take off some of the stress.

I hope that my bubs does stay inside and cooks a little longer

Im off to my MW this afternoon so hopefully she will shed some more light on whats happening

My first two were 6lb11 & 6lb5 born early by OB scan but born ontime & 7days over by period dates, they were fine & healthy 1 vb & 1cs
3rd baby was elective c/s at 39w6days
he had IUGR border line I know 6lb12 but still small for fullterm, I had scans twice weekly from 34wks onwards checking waters, bloodflow weight gain etc. prior to that was every 2wks ffrom 28wk, 30wk 32wk,34wk
I was given some medication to stop contractsions at 35wks that was horeendous.
He had really low blood sugar and the MW didnt pick it up. she was useless cos of this he had to have formula
next time I have a baby I will not worry I will not worry every time someone my bump is tiny, but one thing I will do different is to express BM before I go into theatre to ensure baby has BM if he is unable to latch in theatre.
I had to feed him 3hourly and get his heel prick blood test done for 48hrs after birth.

He only had to have 14ml of formula so not a big deal, but if she had been more onto it, he could have had my BM and if she had listened to me in theatre instead of ignoring me, If I have another I will be going back to the MW I had for baby 1 & 2.

Is your bump measuring small too BDTM14?

In the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy I got asked 3 times by 3 different people if Id had my baby, FFS I certainly didnt feel tiny but everyone else seemed to think so, the MW would always give me a worried look and scrutinise my tummy from every angle. I was pleased for the scans always reassuring me.

I had a IUGR baby my son stopped growing luckily I had growth scans to pick it up. He was born at 35w 5d I had a very difficult labour with him every time they increase syntocin sp ? his heartbeat kept dropping and got down to 60 beats at one stage. After 12 hours dilated to 7cms and being on oxygen I ended up having emergency caesarean. He was 4 lbs 12ozs and spent the first 24 hours in SCBU beacuse he had low blood sugar.

DD I had no problems but because I had problems wth the first my LMC still delivered at her 35w 5d and had an elective c -section. She was 6 lbs 1 ozs
