Can anybody help me here?

I brought a bassinet on Trade Me. It stated it as being in 'good condition'. Upon getting it home, I release it has several areas with spots of black mould.

So I tried my best to remove it. I used 2 natural stains removers and soaks, I used Sard Wonder Soap and Touvit Forte. And still, these spots remain.

I have come to accept, I think I've done all I can and those spots aren't going anywhere.

I don't like my chances of getting a refund. As seller isn't replying to my really polite emails.

Does anyone know, is there anywhere in NZ where I could maybe buy a replacement bassinet cover?

As I feel like, 1. I don't want to try and on sell this bassinet, as I think it would be irresponsible to sell it with a cover with black mould. The fact someone sold it to me annoys me. 2. If I can find a replacement cover, problem solved and I won't feel so bad about wasting $37.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Wow that's totally annoying, but it is TM.

If it is white use bleach. If it is a common one you should be able to get a replacement one but it may not be worth it. $37 is a cheep buy but if you need to buy a cover for $50-60+ then it would be cheaper to buy a cot since you will only get 3-6mths use from it.

I would sell it on TM & state the issue & photo it & then buy a cot.

I just seems like unfair to sell someone a bassinet with that mould on it.

But I guess if someone was willing to buy it and could get rid of the mould it would be ok.

But how much would I ask for it?

I'd definitely be losing money on it, which is sad. As we can't afford to throw away money on 1 low income.

If it was me I would just go & take it back & get my money back.

If you feel you can not do that I would put it on TM for what you paid for it & just say "I bought this off TM it has a bit of mold on it that the new owner maybe able to clean off..I no longer need it so I am selling it. Put photos of it to show the mold.

I don't think someone would want to pay $37 for a bassinet with mould on it though.

As there was a really good bassinet for buy now of $35 that I missed out on last week and there was nothing wrong with it at all.

when it comes to TM it can be the luck of the draw, it is so annoying when people misled. I bought a cot of TM, have bought several, but the one I first bought for $200 was a piece of crap so I refused to pay for it, she was not happy but she had not stated the faults even when I asked all the questions.

What kind of bassinet is it, is there another one listed so I can see what the cover looks like...someone might have some ideas.

That would've been an option believe me, if I owned a sewing machine.

Thankfully the seller has replied and is going to refund the $37. She was moving house over the weekend, so couldn't reply.

I did manage to find a bassinet, without a stand for $5 from a secondhand place though and can get a stand from DF's Mum.

So problems solved.

Though life would be simpler if they sold replacement covers in NZ. I could only find them in UK and USA.

Thats good you got a refund and got sorted in the end. I wouldnt onsell the bassinet from tm though black mould is very dangerous, especially in a babys bassinet, you wouldnt want any little baby breathing that in.
