I would really appreciate your help. I am 41 and just 6weeks pregnant with our first. I need to find a great midwife in Ch Ch( I live in the Merivale area) ASAP. My EDD is 21.12.13- I have tried Liz Macleod and Hazel Voice however both are away on holiday around my due date- would really appreciate any recommendations and feedback- Many thanks- have a good day.

Hi MTB, firstly congrats:) it really depends on what ur looking for in a midwife. I think it's important to meet a few first before making up ur mind. I have recently had to change due to not feeling comfortable with my MW (I'm 36 weeks) so even this late in the game there are some available.
I really like my new MW she is Lindsay with garden city midwives, I like that she is very supportive and understands my choices, she's in Barrington though.
When I lived over ur side of town I was with Adrienne from Merivale midwives, I have been told they r all very good there (I MC that time so only saw Adrienne until 12 weeks) but she was really nice. Have also heard good things about Domino midwives I think they are called. Hope this helps and good luck with the rest of ur pregnancy:)

Hi MTB! Congratulations!!!

I just had mu first in March and we had Karen Bannan of Domino Midwives. She was absolutely amazing. Some of my friends have gone with her on my recommendation. She is kind and caring, but also very straight and will fight for you at the hospital etc. She was great during my pregnancy, always welcomed naive phonecalls and took them seriously. She crossed every t and dotted every i with my health, and was incredible during my birth. Her postnatal care was awesome too!

MTB - Congratulations! I have been pregnant twice, but unfortunately, miscarried with both of them. I was with Margie O'Boyle from Midwifery associates. She is amazing, very thorough, down to earth, and very much into letting the mum do what she wants in terms of birth. Although I didn't carry to full term, she was amazing with the after care for me for both my pregnancies and I have read reviews that she is fantastic with post natal care. I am 40 in a few months so I also liked that she had her children when she was near 40 also. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your recommendations-
My obstetrician has suggested that I give Clare Shatford from Merivale midwives a call. Has anyone had Clare as their midwife or knows someone who has?
Again many thanks

I'm using Clair Shatford, I'm 17 weeks so have only had 2 meetups with her but she's been great so far. My colleague used her also (for both her babies) and liked her. Hope that helps :0)
