Advice please - We had some trouble deciding on a name for our son and took a week to announce his name after his birth. He's now 6 weeks old and I still am doubting our choice. I can't seem to connect the name to him :( I've shed quite a few tears because I'm not sure its the right name. We haven't registered his birth yet but I have said the name on my Facebook page and of course family and close friends who have met him have been calling him by that name. Can we change it, or is that crazy? Will I get used to the name? Has anyone else felt like this? I don't know what to do :/
You can change it! Don't worry about family/friends etc. My partners name was changed quite a bit later on, after the birth cert etc had been done. People will forget after a while anyway!
It's quite normal in some parts of Europe to not name your baby for 3 months for this exact reason :-) Go ahead, change bubs name - you both have to live with it for a long time and you need to feel it is right.
Yes change it! we changed our daughters name to her middle name at 5months old, she just fit, her name better, one other close friend did it at 6 weeks, and when i announced the name change on Facebook i had Pm from 2 other clise friends who said they had wished they had done it.....its ok, hormones make decisions tricky, i swear thats what happened to me, i thought we were having a boy so we named our girl a more unisex/boyish name, then as she grew we saw how much of a very sweet little girl she was and she just fit her middle name perfectly, we are going to get it changed offially also :)
