Topic: Due dates sooo different!!! Posted: 19 July 2006 at 10:34am |
HI,
I had a scan yesterday at 33 weeks to check that placenta has moved from cervix opeing and yes it has.. Yay!!! They also checked measurements etc and have new due date from 7th Sep to 28th august and now 16th August. Whoah!!! Jaxon weighs 6.5 pound at the moment so a healthy weight at the moment. They expect him to be approx 8-9 pound when he is born. Im happy about that, but no bigger, lol. At antenatel classes lst night the midwife ssaid that there is no way they can get it mixed up by about a month so I presume I still go by 7th Sept. Hard to go by that when the scan measures 16th august. What do you reckon??

Check with your LMC, however the Dr that did my ultrasounds said to always trust the earlier dating scan. The later ones just give you an indication of the size of the baby against the median/average baby size....Andrew was always in the 95th percentile, which suggested from scan size that he was due a month earlier than he was, when in reality, it meant that he hit the 7lbs baby average when I was 8 months pregnant. He was still born on the original due date.
It's confusing, and I think I've made it more so, BUT...go with the first date and congratulations on the good news re scan.

Hey Kell- my first scan said due 4th Sept- as I think you know.. but now they're sure to be going by the 22nd of August for me... So I'm just saying oh hopefully he'll come between the 22nd and the 4th. But damn I wish it were earlier as I can't stand the sickness, aches, pains etc etc all the rest... I just want him out.
So now I'm going by the 22nd of August but thats just *HOPES AND DREAMS* but we'll see what happens///

I think babies grow in a different rate after 20 weeks or so (honestly I have no idea if this is correct). But I know this for a fact that, the earlier scans are the ones that are most accurate. Go with that one!
Glad Jaxon is doing well.

Oh Stevie, does that mean you don't want to be part of our Due in Sept club everyone is trying to bail....( I would too, but being due on the 27th Sept, the only place for me to go would be due in Oct, and I'm psychologically not ready for that kind of step...)

OOOHHHH That is so my greatest fantasy at the moment - I literally day-dream about having a scan and they say "actually we got it wrong - your baby will come 3 weeks earlier than we originally said" - ooohhh the bliss of shaving 3 weeks off!!! Dont know what to say about the accuracy - I am not knowledgable enough for that - but must say I am jelous if it works out you have less time less than you think!

Will be a suprise wont it!!!
I dare say Midwifes are pretty good and have been practicing for years and generally know what they are on about. And from what you read ...the earlier scans are what they go by???

Emeldee... Nah I'm not trying to bail out of the club. Haha. I'm just hoping this will end soon even though I know really- I'M NOT READY AND I DON'T THINK I'LL COPE... but we'll see.
I reckon stuff the early scans- might work for most people but if they're telling me by his head circumference??? that he's coming early- well hell I'm taking that. Haha.
Anyways... it's just going to be a game of 'WAIT AND SEE' for all of us.

How annoying getting such conflicting info. I guess you will just have to wait and see, hehehehe Trish (Tastic) had similar issues with Bailey I think and I know she hated it!
