The one year olds in the Jan/Feb thread love the Little People sets .. they have sets designed for 1-3 year olds and 2-4 year olds so they should last for ages.
You can pick up the smaller sets for under $50.00 (the bigger sets go for about $100.00)
Here is Isabelle with her Little People .. from left to right you have .. The stable, Noahs Ark & The dollhouse
The stable and the dollhouse have parts that make noise (which the kids at Isabelles age)

They are small to us .. but not small enough for her to choke on But they are the perfect size for her hands .. I think thats why kids of her age like them .. they can walk around the house with their "friends" lol

Sooo true!! That's another thought, will have to buy something semi-original so she doesn't end up with 2 of them, as well as an exchange card me thinks.

Bath toys are always a winner too, they start to want to play more in the bath from this age.

my boys loved a "pushy" thing - like a wagon or dolls pushcahir - that is good for boys and girls, but be aware that dad may not appreciate a son being given a doll's pushchair - dads can be weird like that.
 wiggles cds are also hits.

oh yeh, it's for a girl.
I might not be the one to subject the mum to the wiggles but the little one will probably like it.

Bath toys is a good one, what a great excuse to buy more toys for my boys!

You can get a doll and stroller, if she's walking or close.
Any gender does seem to love those little block trolleys though. They effectively become a little walker. Emptying and filling is their developmental stage, as far as blocks and/or water play goes.

If they don't have a swing you can get these great convertible ones from the baby factory for under $50. My boy and his friends all love theirs.

one of the best buys we got for Ella was a board picture book with the picture and words of everyday items. Ella is seriously obsessed with the book and every day spends at least 1/2 hr pointing at her favourite pictures and practicing the words. also she loves her doys stroller and the little people building blocks. |

I got her a picture book with textures on it which her cousin who's 16mnths really liked & also a cudly doll thing which seemed to go down well too.
I was so looking forward to the party but unfortunately she had a tummy bug or something so the boys & DH stayed at home & I just visited with the gift. Shame for the mum but glad she rang around & warned other mummy's.
