I was just thinking about the odds of first babies coming early or late!! Most people are saying they come late, and honestly its driving me nuts hearing about it, but I do know some come early... So if any of you who have had your first bubs how early or late were you??
Im due the 19th Aug but had a dream and he was born Aug 3rd and it was a very clear dream, I kept going on and on about his date of birth, prior to that dream I predicted he would be born the 26th of Aug at a week late... only time will tell! |

i have been induced both times so wouldnt really know! first at 39 weeks and second 10 days overdue, so im guessing that this time i will be overdue again? hopefully i'll get the chance to go natural this time, would love to not be "the iron womb"!!!
but my sister had both her 2 kids at 39 weeks.

This is really frustrating, I typed as quick a reply as possible and I keep being logged out ! This is way worse than before *sigh*
So what I said was, that I was five days overdue - my EDD was July 8th, Erin was born on July 13th, and luckily I went into labour naturally.

I soooo know what you mean about being logged out!! Happens to me alot!! Its so frustrating, and sometimes its only a few minutes!!
So I see there is a possible hope of me being early then..

Rachel - how come they induced a week early?

My midwife said to me, shes keen on giving things heaps of time! That made me feel great and wondered if i did go over how long would she leave me!!

why cant they get them out earlier!! haha

Well, due dates are supposed to be the average, and that would suggest that half of pregnancies deliver before the due date and half after. My first was born 3 days before his due date and second, 3 days after. Goodness knows when number 3 will turn up.

it can be 2 weeks either way all depends on babys size, genetics, how you carry all heaps of other stuff. Everyone of me and my sister's has had our babies at about 38/39 weeks - the only one to have had induction was my little sis - who coincidently also has been the only one requiring c-sections, both times - but that was for medical problems and the 1st induction was for pre-eclampsia, the second time she went into labour naturally but went ahead with the scheduled c-section). There are two of us (me and my sister 7 yrs older than me) who have them fast, longest labours 5 hrs, my sister's shortest was 2.5hrs with her 5th kid. the other two older sisters have longggggg labours.
hhhm so i guess it could be family and genetics.. otherwise we are just very coincidentally weird.

my first was born at 34 weeks and my second was induced at 38 weeks. I had 3 friends due at the same time as me first time round and one went a month early, one 3 days early and one 5 days late.

Maya was 10 days early, but I think that's only coz she was posterior and started to turn which started the contractions. I was Mum's first and I was 1 day early.

Jacob, my first, was "technically" 5 days early, but I *knew* he would arrive on the 5th. I had 2 dates on my scans, the first, at 10 weeks pg was for June 10, and I remember telling everyone I had a feeling baby would be born before then. My second date was at 18 week scan for the 5th of June. I always went with that date, I just *knew*. On the 3rd of June, due to high blood pressure and swelling, i was booked in to be induced on the 8th of june, but what do you know? Baby arrived on the 5th, just like I said all along. Anal about time keeping, just like his mother *so proud!*

Paige was just under 2 weeks early....The midwife says this little man could well be early as well...HOWEVER because this is a different Dad it can change a lot of things!

I would give anythig to have him at 38 weeks.

They often ask how your sisters and mother went with pregnancy but I dont think your hubby being prem would make a differnce. Its all about you and how your body handles pregnancy and also like if you did something to bring on labour or had an infection etc.
