I don't know where to put this, so I'll put it in here with all the wise Mummies

I stopped BF'ing Hannah 2 weeks ago.
I was down to one feed a day for the last couple of weeks, then stopped that on her 1st birthday. I haven't felt any "full-ness" or discomfort, but there's still some milk there if I squeeze.

However, on Saturday my left boob felt a little tender, and on sunday the right one joined in and they have been really tender since. They don't feel full, but they're a bit lumpy (not alarmingly lumpy, normal milk duct-y lumpy).

Has anyone had this after weaning?
I know it's normal, but to go for two weeks with no pain to medium to high discomfort levels?

I've considered expressing to see if that helps, but I don't want my milk to keep coming in
And we hate cabbage, so it seems wasteful to buy a whole cabbage (haha a whole $1.59) just to stick a couple of leaves on my chest.

*eta one more point: I don't chart, but I "know" my body fairly well, so I know I ovulated on Thursday. Could it be because of that? And would it last a few days?
Man, I sound so clueless

This happened to me when I weaned Jackson, I think it was around 10 days after I had stopped breastfeeding. It only happened in my right boobie though. It took another 4-5 days to come right again. I didnt do anything except express a little off in the shower every morning,

Apparently frozen nappies work a treat instead of cabbage.

Not sure if you just stick the nappy in the freezer or if you wet it first.

I just expressed a little in the shower whenever my breat started hurting, not much just enough to relieve the pressure.  I only had to do this a couple of times and then my milk settled down.

Unfortunately despite completely weaning Michaela in July 2007 I was still lactating until I went through my awful bout of ms during the first tri with this baby, and the drying up only lasted about a month

Jo, you're a milk machine!

Thanks for your replies.
I've tried hand expressing a little in the shower, but they're still tender.

I'm putting it down to hormones rather than milk. They just feel PMS tender now.

I went through the same thing but thought it was because I'd gone back to wearing an underwire bra too early. I can still express a little too.

They don't hurt anymore and I've gone back to wearing a bf bra. DS has been fully FF for about a month.
