Topic: Subway? Posted: 20 February 2009 at 2:24pm |
I am totally addicted to subway wraps with the vegi patties, I get them to double heat the pattie and I don't have cheese, lettuce or any dressings with eggs or dairy. A friend of mine thought the vegi pattie was a little risky - what do you guys think? I really like them, but don't want to eat high risk food.

The only place I've ever got food poisoning was subway, and it was so bad that I've never gone back. To be fair it was a chicken sub, but they use the same gloves to handle all the foods.
Could you make your own vege patties at home? They aren't very hard to do.

I lived on toasted Italian subs the ones with all the salamis and stuff and never had a problem through my pregnancy alternated with the chicken ones every now and then but i also had zinger burgers from KFC as well it just depends on if you feel comfy eating it - its your body and your baby.

They don't if you ask them not to. It sounds bad but I ate subway all thru pregnancy, didn't have chicken, asked for them toasted after the meat was on etc etc. I knew the guy who managed the one I went to and just asked him to change his gloves around. I also trust he was honest about how long salads were out, he opened a fresh carrot for me when the other one was close to finished just to be safe.

I ate it through my pregnancy too. I didn't have the chicken though, usually the vege ones with salad. I was fine but others might not be.

I eat Subway at least once a week, but then again I am a vegetarian so don't have to worry much about meat, and do ask for them to put on fresh gloves etc.
*shrug* Maybe I am a bit more relaxed this time around?

I love subway, ate it through my last pregnancy and have had it a few times so far this time.
I guess it comes down to what WRXandJosh said - your body, your baby.

I had it in all three pregnancies with varying strictness on whether I'd eat the meat/chicken ones or just the vege ones.

I ate subway when I was pregnant with Dominic but I was working as a flight attendant and the options for dinner and lunch were limited, never had the meat ones though. Just be anal about asking them to change their gloves and the double heating is good too.

I ate subway a few times with DD, but with this pregnancy I haven't touched them.

I won't eat Subway. I think I'm almost more concerned about the salad's being left out and not washed and the same gloves going from meat to salad. Although I'm not eating deli meat either. Such a bummer as I really want a subway sandwich!

I haven't eaten it during either pregnancy. Pre-prepared salads are the worst thing to be eating, especially if you don't even know if they've washed them and they are using the same gloves etc. And also reheated meats that have been sitting out for ages - yuck. I avoid it like the plague, even though I normally love it.
I am a food tech / nutritionist, so probably more concerned about the food poisoning issue than most. But as my doc said, would you want to be one of the couple of people a year who lose their bub, for the sake of a chicken/ham/deli meat or salad sammie. No thanks!

Ive eaten it all through this pregnancy , and last , and havent had any problems .
And yes, the chicken one as well , as well ? ha , thats the only one I like , so thats the only one Ive eaten .
Have never had the lettuce on it pregnant or not (tastes like dirt ) but have the tomato , and pickle .
Now I haven't eaten it for the last couple of weeks because ive gone off the taste .
