Topic: going off BCP Posted: 25 February 2009 at 9:04pm |
Ok a question for those who have gone off BCP.... did you go through any withdrawl? and what were your symptoms?
I am feeling pretty werid and im starting to get a little worried. for the first time in my life i have cramp and i hate it! i get alot of stitch and weird stretching feeling along the sides of my tummy. heartburt.
way over emotional.... i feel like im being a major cry baby and just crying at the drop of the hat for the tinyest little reasons. im headachey, my lower back is uncomfortable and i am SO SO SO tired. it takes me 1.5-2 hours to get out of bed some days!
i feel like such an emotional mess and that my body is giving up on me.
did anyone else have problems going off the pill?

Peeing lots could be cause your body is preparing to TTC and retains fluid, then when you don't concieve, your body has to get rid of the fluid.
I can't say if i was emotional as I started taking Anti depressants hen I stopped BCP, so wasn't really emotional at all.
I have found myself to be immensely tired, most days I have an afternoon nap of about 2 hours. But again that is also a side effect of the AD's.
Just ride it out, it could tak your body 6 months to right itself. Lots of hormonal changes going on. Try to get yourself comfortable and just ride it out.

I've been mostly ok coming off the pill (I think i'm up to week 3 now) but a few years ago I changed from a normal dose to a low-dose pill and I was a basket case for about 6 weeks. I was way over emotional, getting upset about every little thing, and just feeling run down in general. Needless to say I was pretty nervous about coming off the low dose pills but so far I've been fine.
So that might be the problem for you. As an aside, have you done a pregnancy test?

My GP was telling me that it also depends on how long you have been on the BCP. When I stopped first time around I had pretty much been on the pill since I was 18, and stopped at 31 to start trying for bubs. Thats a LONG LONG time for my body to have been dependant on those additional hormones etc!! It took my bidy at least 6mths to come right, and I had been off the pill about 8mths when we concieved.
Interestingly - my GP reckons that 2nd time around its no where near as long, and most people get pg really quickly?!?

hmmm oh ok. I have been on the pill for 6.5 years! I so cant believe that i was on it for that long.
I have kinda thought about doing a test but im not completely sure, it might be to early??
ok heres where Im confused. my last fairly normal AF was 28 days ago.. so i would be due around about now'ish, but 2 weeks after AF I had a super super light bleed for almost 2 days, i dont know weither to call that a period or not since it was so short and there wasn't much blood at all! (i have bleed more in less than an hour than i did over those 2 days)
When should my period really be due? nowish or in another 2 weeks?

I was on BCP for 15 years or more (I'm 37) Came off end of October, first cycle AF arrived 30 days later. I have noticed since coming off that I get more emotional (maybe just ttc is stressful lol), my first cycle I had nausea, extra sore boobs and I am noticing a lot more cramps etc but that is perhaps I am taking more notice of everything. I have noticed my periods are a little heavier than they were before, I generally get 4 days of decent you know what versus 3 days of just about nothing. Not really sure about your AF Jem, maybe your two day spotting could have been implantation not 100% sure, the body can do weird things.

I had my first BFN today! and i have been crying ever since, i have eatten far to much chocolate and basically been walking around feeling really sorry for myself. i have even made icecream so that i can sit on the couch and eat icecream while watching a dvd 2nite. i sooo cant wait for DH to come home.
i thought i was doing so well, i was trying not to get to excited about it and to not get my hopes up and everything but some how without even noticing i did get my hopes up (worked that out when i got the BFN)
I tried sooo sooo hard not to get my hopes up but i did, i have no idea how i could go through this month after month waiting for a BFP. this sucks sooo bad. its silly really for some reason knowing that it takes the average person months and months to get preg, I thought that i would be that person who gets preg straight off the pill.... teenagers seem to get pregs way to easily allll the time and im only 24 its not like im in my 40's.
how do you all handle the monthly let down? coz i have no idea how to get through this
