Topic: no EWCM?? Posted: 01 March 2009 at 1:55pm |
I haven't been getting any EWCM in the last few months that I have been checking.
Does this mean i am not ovulating? It seems to just be creamy all the time!
Is there anything I can do to "get" ewcm?

Hey JD
im not too sure about this exactly but ive heard that you can get something called pre-seed? I myself have only just started charting and things but i cant recall ever seeing EWCM myself and havent had it this cycle since charting either and i think i have ov'd. Have you had watery? Coz i heard that can be just as fertile also.
Anyways i probably havent helped much but im sure someone else will be along soon with much wiser advice than my own.
Good luck!

I thought pre-seed was a sperm friendly lubricant?
The other strange suggestion I have is Robitusson cough medicine. Make sure it is the expectorant one though as that helps loosen and break up mucus but also helps your mucus down there. I have used it twice, and both times have fell pg that cycle. Maybe coincidence, maybe not

TMI but I usually don't have an issue finding EWCM, I must be a mucusy kinda gal
However, sometimes if I don't drink enough water I do notice it a little lacking... so that's why drinking green tea or redbush tea can help, increases water content drunk...
But I second all the calls to use Robitussin (or any cough syrup that has Guaifenesin in it as that's the active ingredient/expectorant that thins mucus) and just follow the directions on the bottle.

Heads up guys. Just found a bottle of Robitussin at home, with the needed Expecterant. Got all xcited. Read the bottle (just incase pregnant people can't take it) and it says if you're taking antidepressants (like me) then you should seek medical advice before taking it. I.E, DON'T TAKE IT IF YOU'RE ON HAPPY PILLS
No excess EWCm for me

Not seeing EWCM doesn't necessarily mean that you're not ovulating! I didn't see any the month we got our BFP.

I never really needed to boost mine, but I did find that when i started taking Vitex after my mc I had sooooo much EWCM it wasnt funny. I am sure I even mentioned that I needed panty liners and thought I had wet myself it was so plentiful.
Needless to say, I did manage to get pregnant that month!
Not sure if it was super fertile after mc or the Vitex, but it cant hurt. I dont think you should take Vitex if you are on antidepressants either I am afraid.
Are you checking externally or internally? If externally it is very possible you are producing EWCM and its just not coming out on your knickers.

Yep I second this. I had some EWCM the cycle I got pg but I didnt have any around ov time.
I was taking vitex and drinking green tea to help in that department and it seems to work. I also tried Evening primrose oil which did help a little.
I'd persoanlly try more natural options first before the cough medicine though.

JD vitex is a natural supplement to help with PMS, sore boobs, general female monthly issues and balance female hormones. You can get it at a health food store or pharmacy. It has nothing to do with pregnancy its self but helps to balance hormones and often helps to bring on ovulation or to ovulate earlier if you have long cycles.

As the others have said it doesn't mean that you're not ovulating. All those things supposedly help increase it, for a few months I was taking all of them and it seemed to make a bit of a difference then when I stopped my EWCM seemed to stop too.
Lots of Water
Green tea
Grapefruit juice
Evening primrose or fish oil
Robbitussin - but when I was researching Robitussin there were studies that it caused cleft palates. So made have a little read before you try it as I decided to go with the rest instead.
Preseed is a lubricant to use if you're lacking EWCM as supposedly it helps suck the sperm up there (or at least helps carry it) like EWCM does.

Actually just found this about robitussin so just make sure it doesn't have dextromethorphan in it.
What kind of Robitussin is used to improve cervical mucus?
One should buy the plain kind with no letters after it. The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. It is very important to avoid the versions that contain decongestants as those may dry up cervical mucus. Also, there is some conflicting information about whether dextromethorphan, the DM in some cough medicine names, may be linked to birth defects such as neural tube defects and cleft palate.
