Hi Guys,
Hubby and I decided to go for a obstetrician for a number of reasons. But I don't know where to start looking for one. Could you guys perhaps let me know who your specialist is and perhaps how much they charge. The North shore and the City is good.
As far as costs I think it is anything from like $4000 to $7500 for the pregnancy when I was looking at it. Cant recommend anyone as such but I am sure someone else would be able too.
I am not sure where he works out of but I can totally recommend Dr Sharma. I had him in palmy years ago as a gyne and he was great. He is the Oh Baby expert on this area too.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
I was just going to say the same as Becks. I have never had him but I am always so impressed with his writing in the Oh Baby magazine. He always has such a lovely tone and seems so open minded and supportive of women. Everytime I read what he says I always think how lovely he sounds.
I'm going to AOC - just had my appt and I'm sooo glad I've gone there. They are parnell based and charge a flat fee. Its a group setup -so you meet all of them throughout the preg, makes it a bit cheaper than having just the one dedicated one - but I like the idea of having 7 of them looking atfer me.
But I reckon you'll find somewhere just as good but a bit cheaper on the shore.
Neil Buttercombe (I think I spelt that right) works out of Auckland. My midwife also works for him and she says he's lovely. I'm sorry i have no idea of the costs involved.
I go to AOC (Auckland Obstetric Centre) in Parnell. They are in the bottom of the birthcare building. They are excellent and can't recommend them enough. As one of the othes said you get a group of 7 OB's, meet them all and whoever is on call when you go into labour delivers the baby and looks after you for your post natal visits. We went there with DD#! and am now back there with this baby too. Oh and if you are to be induced or have an elective c-section you can often choose the day to coincide with the particular ob you want if possible. They cost about $4,000 to $4,500 flat fee for the whole pregnancy and after care.
Actually forgot to mention that this is our third time there because they looked after me when we had a m/c at 16 weeks and needed a D&C. They were all wonderful about that as well and I only paid the initial deposit fee and nothing else (even though I am sure there was something due).
I've only used Anil Sharma as a Gnae to remove endo but I found is was fantastic! Very down to earth, explained everything really well and made sure we understood without making us feel dumb lol and was also very compassionate which is want you want from someone who is about to open you up
I chose Anil to do my op as he came very highly recommended by heaps of ladies on here
I'm using Neil Pattison from Pregnancy Partners who are in the Birthcare Parnell building as well... He is brilliant - very reassuring and I can't say enough good things... I found him via recommendation from about 3 other friends who all said he was amazing...
It's costing me $3800 (+scan costs) &I get him plus a midwife of my choosing... it is a smaller set up - there is him and one other in the partnership but they cover each other well...
