Hi

I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a cheap but reliable moving company in the hutt? Last time we moved we found a guy in the paper and DP helped so it was just $60 an hour for 1 guy and a truck... not very good though, they backed the truck into the house at the old property! We are looking at 2 men and would like to be able to keep it under 350 for the whole move... we are only planning on using the company to move our big stuff, anything else that we can fit in the car we will do that way.

Cheers All look forward to some replies

ive only had bad experience with moving companies unfortunitly so the last couple of time we moved we hired a truck from piggy packers which i drove (No HT lisense required) and paid a couple of big mates to help us and bought pizza for tea. we did the whole thing for a couple of hundred easy.

I used jet transport when I lived in lower hutt, they reasonable price, and if you pay cash they give you a discount

last time i tried shifting myself, it took all day and I ended up in A&E with stitches after I dropped the end of the bed on my head

We used Hammonds a few months back, they were excellent. Supplied 2 men and we did the whole move in less than 2 hrs easy.

I think it was $95 hr with 2 men.

If you looking in white pages i actually think they are called the moving company???? I know they are based in Upper Hutt

I've used Cool Moves to move within Wellington city but I'm pretty sure they go out to the Hutt too.
I've used another company too but I can't remember what they are called, might be Wellington Movers or something like that. Similar deal as Cool Moves though I preferred the Cool Moves guys

Thanks Ladies!! Sarah i have been looking at Cool moves and also one other company which name slips my mind at the mo... its bookmarked on my home computer... Were they quite fast at moving? The last guy we used kept stopping and DP had to keep him moving... i think if DP hadnt of then it would of taken the guy 3-4 hours instead of 2. I would prefer someone who is fast and fairly careful.

Both Cool Moves and Wellington Movers (I'm pretty sure it was them, their prices were the same and their website is vaguely familiar) were REAL FAST! No sitting around (though Cool Moves guys stopped at the bakery near my house for food on the way to the new place, but didn't take long). Just non-stop carting stuff to-and-fro and sorting it out on the truck. I'd happily use either company again though would call Cool Moves first. (I didn't get a Scotsman, sadly)

We've also used Cool Moves a few times in Wellington. They were always quick moving... I could never believe how quick and strong they were. Always found that payment, along with some beer (as an end reward) in an obvious spot got them excited!!!
