Topic: Vacuum cleaner question Posted: 17 April 2009 at 8:41am |
Bit of a boring one really, but does anyone know of a really QUIET vacuum cleaner?
We have a wee boy with autism who FREAKS out about our vacuum cleaner and the noise it makes, so far I wait until his dad gets home and can take him outside to play, and then I do the vacuuming.
That's not really ideal though.
He isn't bothered by his nanas one, as it's a lot quieter than ours, but that kind isn't made anymore.
Some noise is fine, just not that eeeeeeeccccch noise ours makes (I cannot type the appropriate noise lol), it really is loud, even I don't like it much.
Any help appreciated!

Well, been looking it up...I think a Nilfisk Extreme Vacuum Cleaner X110 might be the go.
Costs a bit more than I really wanted to spend, but it will be worth it if it's as quiet as they claim it to be.

We have an Electrolux Ultra Silencer that we picked up cheap off TradeMe. We didn't really need a quiet vacuum, that was just a bonus! I think it's awesome in terms of sucking-power and features and stuff. Could be worth looking into

Awesome, thanks for that! It will nice to be able to vacuum without having to make sure my boy is outside or something. Sounds ridiculous, but small things!

No problem. I recommend going into a store, probably Harvey Normans is best as they have a huge range of vacs. Give a few a test run and you will definately notice that some vacs are so loud that you cant talk over them!!
My daughter is terrified of the vaccum, she just has to see it, let alone hear it and she is screaming and clinging on to me for dear life
