Topic: P& T buggies!!!! Posted: 19 April 2009 at 5:52pm |
I am so sick of trying to find the 'perfect' buggy!
I was totally sold on the phil and teds dash, until I heard of all the issues with the handle/brake, so I went to babycity (again) today to have another look at them and I think the 2 handed braking thing will really bother me. For example if you have your hands full (with baby or shopping) you can't put the brake on one handed.
SO then looked at the p & t sport, but the foot brake on that seems soooo stiff, with my sandels on I couldn't work it at all and would have needed to bend down to take the break off.
Then looked at the vibe ($999 eek) and it looks really nice, but folding is not as easy as other models, however the brake seems much better.
We live on a farm and I run and want something suitable for active parents, I love the double of the P&T buggies so am steering away from mountain buggy for that reason. Does anyone have feedback on the vibe/dash/sport - do the brakes get better on the sport? Should I just bite the bullet and get the vibe for the brake alone?
Thanks in advance for any feedback

I have just sold a sports and bought a dash.
I was quite unhappy with the sports break because whenever i put it on and off while my then baby was sleeping it would stick so much that there was a big jolt getting it off therefore waking my son up anyway!! overall i was still happy with it but had to buy a toddler seat so figured easier to upgrade.
The handle thing on the dash has apparently been solved and i was told to be weary of the dashes that have grey brake buttons as they are the first batch with problems (although most likely not all have that problem) the newer ones have red buttons.
So far i havnt used my pram much due to being too pregnant to want to walk but the time i used it i had shopping in my hand and still managed quite easily to keep holding the bag while pushing the button with thumb and pushing handle down with palm (bag on fingers!).
Iv heard the vibes are good but i didnt like the look of them.

We have a Vibe and I must say we got it because not only was it IMO the prettiest lol, but because of the one handed brake operation.
That and the fact that P&T are now designing all accessories around the Vibe ..
The dash brake needing two hands just seemed stupid to me and if you are using it with a toddler and bub, and your toddler happens to be walking and takes off .. how the hell are you supposed to manage the brake and catch the toddler?
We got a discount Voucher from Baby City and paid less than 800 for our Vibe so I see it as a good investment.

Yep it definately was!
But those 20% off vouchers are pretty easy to come by .. so it makes the Vibe an affordable option, considering the Dash is about that price anyway.

I was going to suggest a babycity discount voucher too - we used one for our vibe. The brake is great, and I don't know how the sport and dash fold but I find the vibe really easy to fold. And it locks into place when folded (I don't think the others do?) so it can't unfold when you don't want it to!

Ahh and another advantage of the Vibe is that it can fold with the toddler seat attached, the others cant do that.

I love my P&T. I have the sport though and the brake is annoying.
Just wanted to add that they design the accessories for each buggy so you can still buy sport and dash accessories and will be able to until they discontinue that model e.g they replaced the E3 with the sport so they only sell the E3 accessories for 2 years after they discontinue the buggy. Hope that makes sense.

O my post may have been confusing!
Yes each buggy has accessories .. however they have designed additional accessories around the vibe (eg if you look on their site at the adaption range, you will find most of the items are being designed on the Vibe now)

all great feedback ladies thank you! For $800 or $850 I think the vibe is a good buy (now just need to figure out the voucher thing) but going back tomorrow with DH to show him the issues.
Anymore info on the vibe - pros/cons is appreciated

Nope .. just the pram.
Oh and the food tray is not standard either .. they make you pay for EVERYTHING these days

Another pro is that the hood on the buggy can go all the way forward so you can have baby facing you and it's more like a pram IYKWIM. Probably not. I'll take a photo.

Hi AuntieSarah, yep I know exactly what you mean, the whole sun shade can move I think this is a great idea - I didn't even think how handy that might be when baby is little and its more like a pram!
