Hey FattyKat, sorry was going to reply to you in the july thread but completely forgot (blaming the preggy Brain), apparently Mornington Health centre are fantastic - if you can get into them. When I tried a couple of years ago they weren't taking new patients but you could try them now. This is their website with contact no'slinky.

Have heard nothing but good comments about them so would try them 1st!

Thanks hailstones - will contact them tomorrow. Fingers crossed they are taking new patients.

shannon - I'm after a GP to be my LMC. I'm not down there yet, will be moving the 1st week in June (stress!) but are hoping to be in the city centre.

Hi, I'm a relatively newbie to Dunedin as well! I had know idea where to start last year when pregnant here as well. Sorry can't help out with any doctors - you only see your GP normally for the first 12ish weeks (I think it was) and then the MW becomes your LMC. If you decide to go with a midwife PM and I'll give you the MW I used. Great time you are moving down - make sure you pack your woollies!!!

Hi hannibal,
My GP here was going to be my LMC and I was going to use one of the hospital MW who was on duty when I went in, but now am not sure what to do now.
I'm sure its going to be a shock to the system being down there for winter.
Trying to find somewhere to live without being there to look at places is proving somewhat of a challenge also

FattyKat - my advice on finding somewhere to live is avoid the valleys, Dunedin has some real cold spots and some places don't see sun all day in the winter. The Port side of the harbour also doesn't see alot of sun over winter (Peninsula side is much sunnier).

I would also look for something that says well insulated! Heat pumps are a plus or a fire! It gets pretty cold down here in the deep south. As Hannibal said - pack your woolies!

Woolies are definitely the 1st thing going in the suitcase!
