My DH was informed by a work mate yesterday that sex will bring on Labour. Now i did know this and had known it for some time but i had "forgotten" to mention it to him, for obvious reasons.

Now as soon as his work mate told me this he rang me straight up and informed me that as soon as he came home from work he was going to have sex.

I have had cramps and a sore fufu since last night.

Ok, now that i have informed you of the situation i need to ask -

How much sex do you have to have to get things started? and Maybe TMI but i want this baby out of me, What position is best?

Gees, at full term you are somewhat limited by the positions that you CAN get into....however, the sex to bring on labour tale is all about the prostaglandins in semen...so, whatever will get the semen on the cervix would work as a position. In terms of how much - noone really knows. You can make the most of it by staying lying down letting your cervix 'baste' in it for a while afterwards, but it's hit and miss from woman to woman as to whether it will work or not. Nipple stimulation is supposed to work too - however a LOT of nipple stimulation - like hours.
I'd do whatever you are comfortable with. Remember a long walk is supposed to help too - just don't wear yourself out - you still have to have the strength and stamina to get through labour and looking after a new baby after all of this!!!!!

nipple stimulation is good! lol.... start with that then go onto sex. while in labour last week, when i was only having small wee niggles as the gel was doing its thing.... my midwife actually told me and hubby to have some fun and left the room saying she would knock before coming in! i was like "ok theres no way im doing it now!" haha. so it really must help out.... it might take more than one session though, i have been told.

linelle.... really really hope its over soon!!! cant wait for you to join us august mums in the baby section it is getting closer, especially you saying you are getting cramps and sore fufu......
take care hun!

Hope your bubs makes it's appearance soon!

Well I've heard that the bad news is that you need some ridiculous amount like half a cup of semen to soften the cervix and bring on labour. *sigh* Acutally don't mention that to hubby it might encourage him more!

I hope your little one comes soon

Encourage him? It might knock the poor lad out having to accumulate that much in a short amount of time!!! He'll need an IV to recover.

hey linelle you still here or did all the Sex talk send you into labour?
Good luck and I hope something works...heard the walking helps and they used to send ladies up the road and told to climb over a particular style in cornwall park from the old national womens!
