Hi all, i'm new to this although i've been checking in and reading everyones progress, congrats to all those who got the BFP

Here's a brief outline of our situation.
My husband and I have been TTC for 5 1/2 years now, and have been going through the IVF process at Auckland FA, we have been approved for govt funding , and have done the daily injections, gonal f, pills etc, we have gone through the egg collection, (which by the way wasn't anywhere near as bad as i thought) but we got 21 eggs out of 12 follicles, however we only ended up with 8 frozen.
It was a bit of a disappointment considering everything was going so well, so unfortunately we are now waiting until my body has recouperated and i am well enough for the embryo transfer.
We have been told we only had to wait 1 cycle, but when another nurse phoned us to find out how we were, she told us 2 months?

I was just wondering if anyone else has hadto wait for the transfer and if it really is 2 months?

I'm really struggling with the waiting process, especially after everything going so well.

DH has been fairly good through this, but is now getting to the stage, where what will be will be.... where as i'm not so patient anymore (hope that doesn't sound too selfish)
I would love to hear from anyone who has/is at the same stage as us.

Best wishes to all :)

Hi Lips, welcome to OHBaby!

You might want to check out the Infertility forum (its near the end of the main forum page) .. it has a few threads about IVF etc.  All the best for your transfer - hope you don't have to wait too long.

I always thought we'd just keep trying every month until we got a result, but the Auckland FA clinic advised me that it was better to wait until the second cycle because your body is still full of hormones. We decided that was the best approach because I didn't want to feel that I'd "wasted" an embryo if it didn't work if we flew in the face of medical advice. Also, if it didn't work, I thought I might blame myself for ignoring the advice as well.
I have to say that after the initial disappointment, I've enjoyed the opportunity to drink alcohol, save another month's money towards the obstetrician we want, live normally without being in an IVF cycle or actually pregnant, not feel that it's ruling my life and spend time with my DH. It's given me a bit more time to get over the disappointment of one failed embryo transfer (which hit me far harder that I expected, and I've struggled with coping at times, whereas I found IVF itself a breeze). I should add that I have noticed the after effects of the ongoing hormones during the first months cycle which has been different to usual, so it has confirmed to us that it was better to wait.

Hi Kakapo & ItchyFeet, thanks so much for your posts, i will definately check out that page.
I'm still learning my way through the website, it has so many interesting pages, i could read for hours

Thanks ItchyFeet for your feedback, we had a gut feeling it was going to be 2 cycles our nurse is away on holiday till next week, so i guess she'll be phoning us with updates then.

This whole experience so far has been such an emotional rollercoaster, but it's really cool seeing the support everyone gives to each other during this time ]:P]

I'd love to hear more about anyone's experience through this and how you're all finding it.
