Topic: Gutted!! Posted: 11 September 2006 at 4:58pm |
Went for my 20 week scan today, and all is well. The last 15 weeks, the debate of weather or not to find out the sex has been keenly fought in my house, as DP wnated to find out, and I didn't and I just wouldn't trust that when he had had his thursday night serving of "loudmouth soup" that he would keep it a secret. Also, I REALLY want another boy, and would probbly be a little dissapointed to find out I was having a girl.
However, my dads cancer is worsening, and he won't be here when baby is born, he probably won't be here at christmas, so I decided that we could find out, so we can tell dad. So, after all the important stuff, she decided to look for the gender, as it hadn't been clear through the scan, as baby is fairly active.
The fire alarm sounds before she can have a look. She goes to check it out.
it is indeed a fire and we have to evecuate.
No finding out gender, and no scan pic either!
Turns out we probably not meant to find out....
Oh well. I could probabaly beg to get another appointment, but marlborough has no sonographers, they come from CHCH 3 days a week, and some people don't even get 2 scans, let alone extras, unless we go private and pay over $100.
Never mind. Just reinforces to me, that baby probably bloody well is a girl, and she dosn't want us to know! Bah humbug!

ohhh im sure that if you explained the circumstances of why you want another one that you would get one. Given that there was a fire and you didnt even get a pic.
Im really sorry to hear that your dad hasnt got long.

THey are really tight here. My bestie had a stillborn baby 18 months ago, and last week, gave birth to a healthy, live baby boy. During he last 3 months of her pregnancy, she was required to have weekly scans, and it was very difficult for her to get them, so I am not so hopefull, but we will see....

I haven't got my scan till October - i'm sure mine is going to be really late and i'll be further along than what we think. I had to have every second day scan in my last few weeks of pregnancy, but it's a bit different when your in an area that has a major hospital.

Oh Annie! How frustrating!
I do hope you get to have another scan soon, but I know what you mean about Wairau being tight.
In all honesty, I was so glad I ended up moving to Hamilton before I had Kiya... I really didn't want to have her in Blenheim.

I agree Girls are great!!
That sucks...but I agree with every one explain the situation and ask for another one!
Sorry to hear about your dad.....
I was lucky because I was a high risk pregnancy (high blood pressure) and so got loads of scans...other wise I would have had to wait to find out what Zaara was....she was a very active, hide my parts type of a baby....I found out at 28 week scan (I think).

No offence to you mums of girl babies intended, sorry!
There was a thread a while back, can't remember exactly what it was called, but someone was posting about if they really wanted to have children or not, and I did a long winded post in there about how I never wanted children, and have never really liked children. In all brutal honesty, I have never really "gelled" with any little girls I have met, and I just HATE teenage girls. I know every baby is different, and I will love my daughter very much if I get one, but I have never seen myself as a mum to girls? sounds crazy, I know. Hope that makes sense, and I haven't offended anyone, because you ladies have some beautiful baby girls, (and toddlers, too!). I guess I am just being honest about my preference for boys. It really grates my nerves when people say to me "oh you must be hoping for a girl, so you can have a perfect pidgeon pair". I have to admit, i have, on more than one occasion, snapped and said, no, i just hope baby is healthy, and in all honest I would prefer a boy.
As for my poor dear dad. It has been a long hard year for the family, and must be awful for him, especailly since his dad, sister and brother all died of the same grotty thing.
*Rant* *vent* bad day. off on holidays tomorrow for 2 weeks, so will see you all then!

Oh no I understand where you are coming from Annie....a friend of mine has her mind set on a boy (when she does decides to have a baby) and nothing else will do. She just loves Zaara to bits and has many nieces she loves to bits..but wants a boy.
Well hope you enjoy your Holiday (lucky you) and see you when you come back!!
