Topic: My little one... Posted: 14 September 2006 at 2:45pm |
We welcomed BAILEY ALEC TRAPP into the world on Saturday 02-09-06 at 9.40am via c-sect. He was 8lb 11oz (3940gms) and 52cm long. Little fatty! But he's really beautiful!
After I think around 13 or so hours of labouring after my waters broke I wasn't dilating past 3cm. So we had to go for the c-sect. Plus I was soooo damn stuffed and tired because I had only had an hours sleep sine Wednesday. It was all good timing to.
I noticed my show at 3.30pm. My sister, Rona, turned up after her drive down from Cairns at 4pm and then water broke around 6pm. I had organised for my sister to come down earlier in the week but she waited til she heard news he was coming and then we just thought 'Oh stuff it!' and she came down on the Friday and tada- it all happened. So she turned up just in time.
Carey ran around panicking when he saw me standing there just staring at him with crap running down my legs- man it was funny. Poor fella never ran so fast in his life. Haha. Anyways... I was so relaxed- didn't feel any pains but was having small contractions. So I called the hospital and told them that we lived so far out and we were going to head in after I showered. Still here's Carey running around saying 'Hurry up, aren't you worried? Don't be so slow!' Hehehe...
We got to the hospital and just waited at the front counter- no one bothered to ask if we were alright and here I was wrapped up in towels because Carey was to impatient to wait for me to get dressed. Soo oh well. Finally we were shown to room 27. They set me up on the CTG machine and monitored everything until 11 and I was in pain. Mainly because they had done about 6 internals and had jabbed me so many times to find veins and things like that. Then at 11 they gave me a shot of pethadine and I passed out. Woke at 1am and they gave me something else and then was sore until 2 they gave me more pethadine. Later on they moved me next door into the labour suite and gave me some other drug, more frigin internals and still were jabbing me for blood. By then I also had wires and crap coming out of my giiiny because they had trouble monitoring his heart on the CTG and had to insert a catheda thing. They tried me on the gas but I was throwing up by then to.
My step mum, Carolyn had come to see how things were at some time to (Around 7 in the morning I think???) Carey said that between yelling at him that 'He needs to do something!' the 'ARGH f**k's and the ARGH sh*t's' and the rest of the moaning and groaning. I managed to yell at her to 'Stop f**king touching me woman!' Haha I do remember her though trying to get a bit of hair out of my face and wipe sweat away maybe? Oh and ripping my ears off trying to get my earrings out.
At 7.30ish a doctor came in and told me what was happening and asked if I'd agree to a epi and c-sect and I was like- 'HURRY UP! GET HIM OUT!' So they took me off to theatre and then Bailey came out at 9.40am on Saturday. All I really remember after the first pethadine shot was 2 contractions while they tried to give me the epi and then the bright lights in theatre They thought it was weird since I was the only person to have ever asked for something to cover my eyes while they were shut anyways... Oh well they must've just been sensitive.
I was too stuffed to hold Bailey but remember looking up and seeing Carey bawling his eyes out. It was sooo sweet. Then I think I just dozed off. And woke in the first room we were in. Then I don't remember much from Saturday- Carey has me on video camera rolling my eyes at him and just being to stuffed to do or say anything. Haha. And while I mention the video camera- he HAD to go buy ANOTHER one on Friday since he wanted ''BETTER'' quality pictures and footage of Bailey. I had bought him a camera/video thing for his birthday which cost alot already and then he goes and spends another $700. Agh well- it was worth it.
Umm had hardly any sleep Saturday night since poor bubba had alot of mucusy crap and spew and stuff coming up. Apparently normal from a c-sect baby. Then I had already had a bowel movement by Sunday morning and was up walking around- which surprised them all. They were trying to give me morfein again for pain but I kept telling them that I had no pain!!! So anyways- they thought it was weird but I was tough. Seriously I had no pain though and never really did. The only pain was the PAIN IN MY ARSE having to stay in hospital so long. But I made sure that I let every doctor and midwife know I WANTED TO GO HOME!!! And they let me out on Tuesday (05-09-06). YAY!
There's a whole heap that I'm most likey missing from the birth ect. I remember little bits here and there. If you asked me about something I might be able to remember. But I still have to get around to getting Careys side of it as well. Haha. But now my milk is in and on tap- man there's just so damn much. My boobs aren't sore at all. I do get a little pain where I was stitched up but it's only when I try get up out of bed. Breastfeeding is going really well and he's a little sucker this one! And he loves his baths!!!
We're sooo in love! I absolutely adore him. He's so advanced for his age- smiled at day 1 but we know it was just his cheeky 'I'm gunna fart or sh*t or both' smile- hehehe and looks around alot and is reacting to sounds and all that. So must take after his mum- hehe. Damn talented. Haha.
His first picture- a few minutes old and already sucking his thumb.
5 days old.
Looks like a little doll in mummy and daddys bed.
His cheeky- 'I'm sh*tting myself' smile.

He's gorgeous, Stevie! I can see why Carey wanted to capture him on a really good-quality camera, too! Well done on surviving such a long labour - and yay for the amazing recovery, that's so cool!

Thanks everyone!
We are just over the moon and Carey's a proud daddy. He lays there at night holding Bailey saying, 'Oh little man- you are just so beautiful.' Sounds weird coming from Carey but its so cute. He's sooo in love. Haha.
I just want to squish Bailey and give him big hugs when I lay there watching him sleep! I'm sooo in love to. Hehe.
It's amazing what having a baby can do to you and your new family.
